Re: Mom had Breast Cancer/Keep Ovaries?

My mom and grandma both had small cancer tumors in their breasts by 35. Mom also had uterine very young, luckily only surgery needed. I decided not to chance it and had it all removed. Everyone is different though, do your homework and do what you are comfortable with. Good luck!

rene1215-Do you know if the surgery would require more time, if I decided to have ovaries removed? I have my surgery scheduled for 9:30 am Wed & do NOT want to reschedule. Thanks for your help!

Re: Mom had Breast Cancer/Keep Ovaries?

You should speak to your doctor about whether or not you should remove your ovaries, given your family history. You can also ask him or her about the time.

Re: Mom had Breast Cancer/Keep Ovaries?

My mom an aunt are breast cancer survivors. My doctor advised me that I was too young to have my ovaries removed. But every doctor is different.

Re: Mom had Breast Cancer/Keep Ovaries?

Thanks girls... I think the nerves are just really starting to kick in (today is pre-testing & tomorrow is the surgery). When I originally got the news about having to have the TLH, I was cool as a cucumber, now, not so much!
