Been getting a lot of positive feedback lately

One of my biggest post surgery concerns has been incontinence when I get older. I remember my grandmother wearing adult diapers when she was in her 80's and she had had a hyster in her 50's. But mom just told me this week that she wasn't really incontinent. She had issues when she had a bad kidney infection and so they put her in depends, but after the infection cleared mom said she went back to regular panties all the way up until the day she passed when she was 89 years old.

My mom's dearest friend is an RN and I talked to her last night about my bladder fears regarding my hyster and she said, "Oh they will pull it all up and repair it and you'll be even better than you are no since you've had 3 kids."

My sister just told me yesterday that two young women she works with in her office had hysters and said it was the best thing they ever did.

I'm feeling much better about all of this.

Really, my only concern now is waiting to see how much this changes my orgasms. It's kind of comical that I'm so worried about this though. My husband and I haven't had sex since January.

Re: Been getting a lot of positive feedback lately

Those have been my 2 big concerns as well. I'm only 4 days post dvh, and for me, it was a whirlwind. Only 3days between seeing the dr and surgery. At 37 do I get to wear diapers? Will sex be the same? Help us sisters!!

Re: Been getting a lot of positive feedback lately

Some women say sex is better after surgery, some say it is worse, some say it is the same, and everywhere in between.

For me, sex feels different. The orgasms are not as intense, as there is no longer any muscle contraction. The orgasms are more frequent... so who knows what the body will do. We do have to use lubricant, and that part is frustrating for me.

This part of your post surgery life can take some practice and needs much patience. Be warned that you will be restricted from sex for a fair length of time. For me it was six weeks, but I have also read six months for some women. The tender tissues inside need to heal.

Good luck to you both....
