Post-op dr appt

I'm almostt 6 weeks into recovery and I have my post-op appt today. I'm so nervous! I am praying for the green light to resume activities (sex, bathing, pool, etc.........). Does it totally depend on how each one of us is healing??

I have a vaginal cuff. Had my uterus and cervix removed, but kept my ovaries. I also want to discuss my hot flashes, as they're interfering with my sleep (and with my daily life). I thought they'd stop by now, but they're not. I'm very hesitant to go on hormones though......

Re: Post-op dr appt

Don't worry about temporarily going on HRT if it helps you feel better. Your doctor can prescribe a low dose until your ovaries kick in.
Healing is different person to person, so be sure to ask if your cuff is healed and about your restrictions if any.

Healing is different person to person, but if you haven't experienced any setbacks, you should get the green light. I understand your hesistance about hormones, I was in your shoes exactly a year ago. My right ovary gave up and the hot flashes, insomnia and mood swings were horrible. I waited it out a few weeks then went on a low dose hormone patch and within 48 hours noticed a big difference. I used the patch for 3 weeks then weaned off to test and no more hormonal issues. Ironically I just had to have the ovary removed and will be starting hrt again soon. Good luck!

Re: Post-op dr appt

How did your appointment go? Mine was today too. Everything is looking terrific but she told me to wait 2 more weeks for sex. It's because she has a recent patient who, at 12 weeks, had her vaginal cuff open during sex. It's a bummer, but I'll be a good girl and wait. On the up side, I'm okay for a hot bath.

Aghh, our worst fear! I know there's minimal risk of that happening, but still Aghh. Sorry had to momentary flip out. I'll tell myself that patient had some extenuating circumstances.

Re: Post-op dr appt

My appt didn't go well. The doctor said it looked like it was healing beautifully and then there was recent bleeding and it tore a little, so I'm back to square 1 for 4 more weeks. I figured this was going to be the case, since I fell square on my hip 2 days ago (on cement) and I've been very crampy since then....... Ugh. She also said I can't have any hormones for the first 8 weeks because of possible blood clots? I have to wait til then and she'll want to do bloodwork.
