a week and a half till my surgery

hello to everyone. I am a week and a half out from a LAVH. Ovaries going too. I am getting extremely nervous. due to severe endometreosis, there is a large possibility the surgery will become open abdominal. i will be starting HRT, but not for a while due to my dr wanting to keep me hormone free for a while so that no more endo tissue that is possibly still hanging around will have any hormones to feed off of. I have a large family, and am a little worried about making sure they are all taken care of too. Any good advice? Things i need to make sure i have at home? anything will be very helpful.

Re: a week and a half till my surgery

I'm going to be having the same thing as you in May and I'm so nervous. I really hope they are able to do your surgery without it being an open incision. Keep us updated!

Re: a week and a half till my surgery

By any chance, have you consulted with an endometriosis specialist? The key for successfully treating endometriosis is the skillful removal of the implants themselves. If that is done, and the ovaries and uterus are healthy, they don't have to be removed. Additionally, many specialists are able to do quite complex surgeries without switching to an abdominal incision.

We do have an Endometriosis Support forum where you can learn more about this condition including that it is not cured with a hysterectomy and going without hormones doesn't necessarily cause any remaining endometriosis to disappear since it can create its own supply of estrogen.

I wish you all the best and hope you can take some time to explore the site as we have a lot of information that will be helpful for you.
