kept both ovaries- do hormones still go crazy?

So far the worst part of this whole experience was the catheter... and going stir crazy already- 5 days postop. Surgery was for suspected post ablation syndrome.

I kept both ovaries, the right one did have a cyst removed, not sure the size but it looked big to me, lol. Do hormones go crazy even if the ovaries are still there? Tonight I started feeling weird, kind of 'detached' for lack of a better word. Not sure if it could be hormones or what.

Are there any sisters that kept both ovaries and are further along who can offer advise?

I have my ovaries. If you not going through the change pms will come when you normally start your period. I'm at my 4 week post op. I went to my dr today and that's what she told me. It will get better I just takes a lot of time and patience

Re: kept both ovaries- do hormones still go crazy?

I am four weeks out today, and kept both my ovaries. My doc warned me that the blood flow to the ovaries gets changed when they remove the uterus and that it may cause the ovaries to be "sleepy" for a while. I assumed mine were fine when I got the classic pms symptoms right on schedule for when my cycle would be. However, it's now 11 days later and I started feeling all pms like again... swollen boobs and more zits! So, assuming things are still a little haywire in the hormone dept. She said things should even out with time. Hope this helps, good luck with your recovery!

Re: kept both ovaries- do hormones still go crazy?

Thanks ladies! I have not had a period in 23 months because of the ablation... did not even dawn on me about PMS. Makes total sense. I have been so moody for the past 6 months with the abdominal pain, who knows where I am in my cycle. I have warned DH that I am feeling funky, poor guy is works from home so cannot even get away from me.
