Week 6 and it's two steps forward, one step back

Today makes six weeks since my TAH. On the whole, I feel pretty good. I even go to work for a few hours here and there. I am still having trouble telling when I am overdoing it, and then by nighttime I am really sore and bloated. I am depressed that my belly is still so swollen. Most of my pants don't fit because of it. After my surgery, lab results showed that I had had endometrial carcinoma. Since my doctor didn't know about the cancer going in, he didn't remove any lymph nodes for testing. So, sometime in April I will have a laparoscopic procedure to remove some lymph nodes for testing. I'm not thrilled about it, but it's the only way to find out whether the cancer had spread. To sum things up I would say that I am sometimes amazed by how good I feel, and then I seem to regress a little and feel lousy again. I keep telling myself that I need to make sure that I don't overdo, especially since I will be having another surgery, but it's hard!

Re: Week 6 and it's two steps forward, one step back

I am sorry for your cancer diagnosis. How are you doing emotionally? The swelly belly takes time to go away and we all seem to have our own timeline. I seem to be mostly past it now at nearly 4 months. I will pray your cancer has not spread.

Re: Week 6 and it's two steps forward, one step back

Thanks so much! I truly believe in the power of prayer. I am doing well emotionally. I am taking it a step at a time. I will be glad when the second surgery is over. If the news isn't good, I know God will help me deal with it. I have a feeling that everything is going to be OK. Support from nice people like you really helps!
