Re: hysterectomy for adenomyosis

I had a SAH for suspected adenomyosis on Feb 20. I can easily say it was not too bad. I was a little sore after, but it was very manageable. I just hit my 4 week mark and I am thrilled I had it done. I have found this site invaluable.

Re: hysterectomy for adenomyosis

My hyster is on April 24th and it's for suspected adenomyosis. I'm on my period right now and am cranky because I'm cramping so bad. I feel like I'm useless to my family for 7 to 10 days a month because I feel so awful.

I'm very hopeful that after I make it through my recovery that I'll be a new women.

Re: hysterectomy for adenomyosis

Hi abagale, just think that this could be ye last period. I just finished mine and that should be my last one ! Only prob now is that for a week after my period I don't have pain (the rest of month I do !) But now am thinking hmmmm maybe the adenomyosis has gone ! When I said to my bestie the other day that I don't have pain, so maybe don't need the op, she promptly reminded me of the agony I was in the day before I came on ! Keep thinking positve thoughts at how well we will feel a month after the op. I am having mine done on 2nd so will let u know how it is ! Take care, have thd hot water bottle on constant till your op, it works wonders ! X x

Re: hysterectomy for adenomyosis

Wow. I'm the same way. I'm pain free the 5 to 7 days after my period each month and then cramp all the other days. Interesting.

I should have one more period before my surgery in April. In fact, I fully expect to be on my period when it's time for my surgery. That will be a hoot. Going in on my period, and coming out without it!

Re: hysterectomy for adenomyosis

I just had my hysterectomy on March 9. I didn't know until it was over that it was Ademyosis. I had been bleeding every single day since the beginning of October 2011. Some days it was so heavy I couldn't leave the house. Dr tried different meds and nothing worked, I just kept right on bleeding. I hope I'll be glad I had the hysterectomy. I resisted but finally had to give in.
