Bladder spasms before surgery?

I'm having what I think are bladder spasms, along with the chronic pain that is the cause of my surgery scheduled for May 1st. My doctor took a urine sample at my last visit, but I haven't heard anything yet. Is anyone else having this same problem? What could be causing it? It seems to be worse at night.

Re: Bladder spasms before surgery?

I thought I was having bladder spasms. I did have a UTI this past January. But, what I thought were bladder spasms turned out to be uterine cramps due to what my dr suspects is adenomyosis. I'm having bladder symptoms because my enlarged uterus is pressing on my bladder.

I have cramping that feels like it's in my bladder. I feel like my bladder can't hold as much and I have trouble emptying it. My doctor said if I were having bladder spasms then I'd have the sudden urge to urinate while having the cramps and it would be hard not to have an accident.

The uterus and bladder are so close, sometimes it's hard to tell what is bothering you. I'd discuss all your symptoms with your doctor. Mine said we may discover that my bladder has adhered to my uterus when she's in there for my hysterectomy.

Re: Bladder spasms before surgery?

I have had bladder issues since my tubal and ablation...pain, pressure, name it. I went to see a urologist and was even diagnosed with hydronephrosis...but no explanation as to what was causing it. Like Abagayle I was recently told that adenomyosis might be the cause of all of it. Diagnostics do not always show it. I guess I will find out next week for sure. What I experience sure does not feel like a UTI but it most definitely is not normal or tolerable...can't wait til it's gone!
