Chest pains

Hello ladies. My surgery was March 21 @ 8:30am. Surgery went well and I'm home resting but my question has to do with chest pain. I'm not sure if its gas pain or what but when I breathe in really deep, that's when I get the most pain.

Anyone have anything similar?

Also, when can I start doing stuff to reduce the scars? Is it too early to even think about? What can be done?

Thanks!!!!

Re: Chest pains

Please, don't second guess about chest pains. Check with your medical professional immediately to find out what is going on.

Also, you should not put anything on your incisions until your doctor clears you to do so. You could ask when you call about your chest pains.

I hope you will let us know what you find out!

Re: Chest pains

I agree with Weiser. Chest pain can be a symptom of a pulmonary embolism. If you can't reach your doctor, please go to the ER as soon as possible. It could be gas, but if it's a blood clot you will need immediate attention. I hope you feel better soon.

Yep! I sure had the chest pains too , bad enough to get me rushed to ER on the 3rd day after my dvh , they first thought i had pneumonia , then a blood clot on my lung!
But yes it was gas! Apparently they pump you full of gas during surgery and they dont always get it all out.
I know its painful ,but dont worry if it is gas it will subside but you should get it checked out to be sure just in case it is not gas!
Good Luck Sister

Re: Chest pains

Always better to be safe, chest pains are nothing to play around with!!! So much better to feel silly over nothing than to have real damage being done to your body. ER!!!!

Re: Chest pains

I think on my 4th day post-op I called 911 for chest pain, they came listened to my lungs and checked ox level and said I was probally having pains from gas and I was also having a panic attack. But I didn't just assume it was gas so, I'd get it checked out just to be cautious. My chest/gas/severe pains lasted up until 1 1/2 weeks. Keep us posted

Re: Chest pains

Thanks ladies. The pain seems to be worse in my shoulder at times so I'm inclined to think its gas pockets. Also, my pain is worse when I sit up too long. The gas-x doesn't seem to last long either. I'm going to see how it goes tonight. If its not better tomorrow, I'll get it checked out. Hate it's the weekend; means my only option is a long wait in the ER.

Re: Chest pains

Just wanted to let you all know, the chest pains were from gas. I'm feeling much better now.
