Hey there. I am 26 and 18 days post-op from a TAH. My story is shockingly similar to yours with the flooding, clots, pain, and general horror. Unlike you, I am not married and don't have kids and I also have a laundry list of medical problems. This became an obstacle when I wanted a hysterectomy and I had to hop around until I found a GYN that would do it. It turns out that I was always sterile due to my tubes being fused to my uterus. Also, one of my tubes was filling up with blood and if I had waited any longer for the surgery it might have been to late to save me. Basically, if you think it's the right decision, go for it. Nobody knows your body better than you and nobody has to suffer your pain. Good luck with your surgery!

It was providence. My surgeon was a godsend and my recovery has been a miracle every step of the way. God takes care of His own!

Re: 27yrs old, Hysterectomy will be in June, any advice?

Hello! Educate yourself and listen to women who have done this. I had a complete hysterectomy nov. 29th - im 40 years old. I felt that was young. I went in thinking I would bounce right back. When they tell you 6 to 8 weeks just to return to normal things - they mean it. I was taken back by how I felt, how hard it was to do things that I've always done, and truthfully... downtime by yourself is the last thing I needed. obviously the first week is rest and lots of sleep... but the second and third weeks you need to get up and do little things - keep your mind busy. No time to sit and feel sorry for yourself because that simply leads to depression. I am a very active person and still today have a tender abdomen and trouble urinating (that's getting better).

I'm just saying to learn about your body, listen to your Dr., ask questions. Someone above said that once they take things out they can't put them back. I had everything taken out and not sure that was the best option. i do feel good now and so will you.

take care of you and best wishes for your procedure!
