Re: Fed up and fat!

I almost cried when I was getting ready for my doctor appointment and not one pair of pants would fasten over my swollen belly. I look like the ladies that were there for their prenatal appointments. Not good. Lol!

Re: Fed up and fat!

Awwwe i so totally know how you feel, its so depressing and frustrating. ime so with ya. i tried wearing different clothes for a change last week and the pants i put on were spandex so i should have felt comfy, but even those around my waist were so uncomfy and left me feeling blah and like a whale, that i took them off and i had to get back into my baggy sweats that ive been wearing day after day besides my jammies...but you know what the whole goal and hope is that once were finally further down the road in our recovery we wont hopefully ever go through this again and i dont know bout you but before my surgery i was bloated and swollen and in pain about 22 days out of every month as my female cycle hit me like a mack truck monthly...so heres to our hopes and goals of feeling better as time goes on...my heart is with you..Peace be with you

Re: Fed up and fat!

Wish the doctors were more upfront about how long it really takes to heal up and for the swelling to go away. I am 7 weeks post surgery and I feel like I am never going to wear my pre surgery pants again. And now I have a prolapsed bladder! So now I have to watch my activity level. Feel like I am never going to be able to exercise again!

Re: Fed up and fat!

I had a TAH 4 weeks ago. My belly was pretty big before the surgery. I had a 18 week uterus due to fibriods. I was looking forward to the surgery to get back to normal...I had never heard tell of swelly belly, so I was not happy to see that my belly was still big. This past week I have been able to wear jeans for a while...but at the end of the day it swells up ....but I keep thinking it will get better...a few weeks ago I couldn't even zip them up and now I can wear them, so have hope....and I keep telling myself, no more heavy periods and pain so its worth it

Re: Fed up and fat!

ime so sorry to hear you have bladder prolapse, did this happen after surgery. and i as well was not informed bout swelly belly and that it takes forever for the swelling to go down. my tummy and bowels are haveing such a hard time releasing the all that air. i didnt think the air would ever start to come out as i wasnt passing it at all until about the 5 th or 6th day or so after surgery, which lead to not being able to eat for almost a week, just tidbits of tablespoons yogurt and mashed papaya in small amounts. and yes i would love to change into different clothes. but heres a cheerup on how i tried to help myself feel good, i painted my nails today as i actually have nails now lol, where i work its impossible to grow my nails, so having time off work has actually left me with nails, so thats a little bonus lol,,,theres a saying that goes something like this, "be happy for small beginnings". not sure how it really goes but ill take that, i actual feel good bout having nails and painting them, ime very low maintenance and painting my nails is not in the norm for me lol,,as i work so much and it just wears off or my nails break anyway from working....Peace be with you

Re: Fed up and fat!

Phew!!! I am so glad to hear about others still having "swelly belly". I had my surgery 7 weeks ago today and I feel so fat!! I am also living in sweat pants and pajamas!! I have read so many stories from other ladies that were losing weight and I was beginning to feel bad about myself. I am glad to know that I am not alone and that I need to give it more time for the swelling to go away! Thank you everyone!!!

Re: Fed up and fat!

Angel_Peace, I did not have bladder problems before. The surgery did it to me. I had uterus, cervix, ovaries, lymph nodes and margins out (I had cervical cancer). A couple different friends mentioned that it could happen when all that comes out, but when I asked the nurse she said everything shifts around and is attached and shouldn't be a problem. Hmm....

Re: Fed up and fat!

I go to the doc on Friday, she said it's nothing urgent which I have been hearing from women. Thank goodness the bladder isn't just going to fall out of me. Kegels have been helping. The great news is that I am healthy and they did get all of the cancer and I don't need radiation or chemo!

@darncancer: so glad to hear you're cancer free! I remember waiting for the results of my analyses - longest 10 days of my life!
