Re: Last period ever!

Total abdominal hysterectomy, ovaries stay. (I don't know all the abbreviations yet, lol). They are doing a vertical incision from pubic area to naval.

Re: Last period ever!

My fibroid is huge! I was shocked when I saw my MRI! I was sure there were several in there, nope, only one the size of a cantaloupe!

Re: Last period ever!

Me too! Well, I have one huge one and several less huge ones. When I lay down my belly looks like Kentucky . I also have a huge artery feeding my fibroids that is scary to think about. They will have to cauterize, staple, and sew it.closed. this is what worries me the most: this vessel not staying sewn shut.

Hello Eastcindy27,

12 days ago I had an LSH, the discharge instructions from the hospital were less than helpful. However, the only difference between a LSH and a SAH is the abdominal incision. I have three small incisions one by my right hip bone, one by my left hip bone, and one in my navel. You may be able to move around a little easier or lay in different positions easier than someone who has the abdomincal incision, but I think we tire just as easy. My discharge instructions said I can drive when I am not taking the narcotics and when I feel I am up to it, not to lift anything over 20 lbs for 2 wks, and I think it said nothing in the vagina until I see my doc which for me was 4 wks form surgery. Before surgery I asked my doc about exercise and running and her response was at least not until I see her again. Take it easy and take care of yourself.

I had da vinci robotic surgery on March 29th. I did bring maxi pads with me but the hospital supplied me with some too. I had no bleeding and didn't need the pads. I think we'll all be different but I'd plan ahead and bring a few maxi pads.

Re: Last period ever!

Praying for u cindy. Having an lsh tomorrow too. I am getting really anxious now. Work isn't that supportive right now as I sit here, I know everything goes on and business must flow. But I always find it disheartening when this happens. I know people don't have to care and I shouldn't expect them too but I wish they would. After everyone will call or send something but the support b4 means so much.... Whining I know but I am feeling it omg surgery tomorrow ....good luck to u too

Re: Last period ever!

I had a TLH on 4-10-12 with fibroids and cleaning up endo, leaving the ovaries, taking the cervix due to early cancer cells. I spent 24 hours in the hospital and after that took only a total of 4 or 5 tylenol with codein. Other than that it is just ibuprofin for long as i dont overdo it. I am shocked at how smoothly it has all gone. I hope you all have as much luck! My best pals have been my heating pad and pillow pet. I am sooooo ready to get back to my normal life...but i know i have to be patient in order to keep my steady progress. Hang in there, girls!!
