Well my surgery is a week from today. I am feeling a lot of anxiety, going to ask my doctor for something to help me relax this weekend and up to the night before because I am going to be a mess!
I told them I was as nervous as could be. I was admitted the night before the surgery. I was told I could have something to help me sleep. I tried to do it on my own and I survived. The next morning the nurse came in at 6:30 and said "Good Morning, it's the morning of your surgery" I thought I was going to vomit. When they came to get me to go to the OR I was was a state. All I could think was.. I still have time to back out. I told them how nervous I was. THey gave me an oral pill before I went into the OR. I was scared to death about getting the epidural ....once I got in they gave me something in the IV and I was calm, cool, and collected. They went ahead and did what had to be done and I don't remember a thing until sometime that night.! Ask for something to relax you if you are scared.

Re: Last period ever!

I just started what I hope to be my last period but with the way I bleed it is totally gonna be a good riddance. I only am not bleeding for one week out of the month so,my plans of getting my fill in with the DP before my 2 weeks go by are totally busted. Ugh!!!!! The pain and all is horrible. Tempted to say sorry Flo your not gonna get in my way before I am down and out for a month of recovery lol......

Re: Last period ever!

I too just started what will be my last period ever. My first couple days aren't too bad. Annoying cramps and thick gunky old blood that isn't too heavy, but the diarrhea that goes along with it is another story. I can't wait to say bye-bye to the diarrhea.

Not everyone has an epidural. You could ask your doctor. The morning of my surgery the antisthisiologist came in to talk to me. He mentioned the option of an epidural and I said no way, knock me out!

Re: Last period ever!

My doc said my fibroid is huge and I only have one. The MRI showed it, we were guessing there was many of them in there. It is the size of a cantaloupe! She was going to cut me on my existing bikini-line scar but has to cut me vertically to get my huge uterus out. It will be below my belly button; at first I pictured it going all the way up to my stomach!!! I had the biopsy done and it cramped a little but wasn't as bad as others said it would be. I got my pre surgery instructions, blood work and labs done. Got an RX for Ambien to help me sleep at night until the night before my surgery. Getting really paranoid now. It is only 4 days away (Wednesday). Doc said my hospital stay would be overnight, I was thinking 3 days. Anyone know what the deciding factor is on that? We have TriCare and use Naval Hospital.
