hysterectomy friday

Hi! I'm 32 and just last friday was scheduled to have d&c, ablation, tubal ligation and colposcopy but woke up to find that they were unable to do d&c and ablation because my cervix would not open and my uterus was prolapsed. So this friday i am having vaginal hysterectomy and i'm still awaiting results of biopsy of two spots that were found on my cervix. Very nervous and don't personally know anyone who has had a hysterectomy.

Re: hysterectomy friday

Hi chnmarie3,
I will be praying for you to have a smooth speedy recovery. It is very normal to be nervous of the unknown, I think we all went through fear and nerves and all feelings in between.
I had abdominal hyst on 1/13 due to many large fibroids, largest one 10x20 (looked 6 mos preg). I did not need pain meds at any time, I did have little nauseau and gas pains after surgery, but walking cured that.
Recovery was quick and I began walking 6 weeks after, have lost about 15 pounds and doing very well.
Had a great experience considering hyst, I thank God because all went better than I could have ever imagined.
I thought I would be in bed for most of 6 weeks in pain, but that was not the case at all. My friend took week off after I came home to help out, but I told her I would be fine. It is great that you have support from family and friends.
Wishing you a speedy recovery
