Re: Two weeks away

Hi vb82 ! I got that same call from my hospital before my surgery - the amount they wanted me to pay up front was insane! I told them I'd give them 1/5th of it up front and they could bill me for the rest, hehe! But I didn't want to be short on funds should I have needed something after surgery, ya know? My DH isn't working right now, so I wanted to be prepared! I'm 11 days post op and doing great! My advice to you is to stick to the pre-op threads and focus on getting yourself ready. I was overwhelmed enough with that, much less to go visiting the post-op section and opening a whole new can of worries. Be sure to post if there's anything you have questions or concerns about, there are tons of us here who have all different experiences! Good luck!

Re: Two weeks away

Hi. I also have two weeks till my sugergy. Got the call this morning from my nurse that it is going to be April 10. I am little overwhelmed at what should I get done before the day gets here. I am so sore and in pain I cant do much but I do want to try and cook some meals to freeze for my husband and daughter. He will be staying home for a week with me but he cant cook so ya know.
I am just not figureing out what else I need to do and take so any advice I would love to hear it.
What else are you doing to prepare?

Re: Two weeks away

Mine is on 4/10/12 also. I go in on 3/29 for my pre-op stuff since I have so much going on and we have to coordinate between two surgeons, my regular doc, hematologist and cardiologist with the anethesiologist. I am so ready to have this behind me! I am focusing on all of the prep things too...and steering clear of the post-op forum for now. Hubby will be home for 2 weeks and my mom is driving up to be with me for as long as I need her. 2

Re: Two weeks away

Yes it seems there are a lot of us going in on the 4/10.
My husband will be home for a week for sure and if need be 2.

So far my list has
cooking meals to freeze
lay out clothes for daughter to wear for two weeks.
Wash the dog
clean the bed linens
buy a good book
and set up a little cart for beside the bed.

Re: Two weeks away

Hi sisters!! I'm having my surgery on the 10th too...I have been trying to do as much stuff as I can do before surgery, am very lucky cuz my DH knows how to cook, clean & do laundry (his mom trained him well!) Even my kids volunteered to help out around the house after surgery.

My advise is to do what you can now while you're still able to cuz once surgery happens, it will be difficult. My dr stressed to just take it easy & let your body heal on it's own.

Good luck to all of you! So glad that we have so much support on this website!

Take care,

Re: Two weeks away

Two wks here also! Well actually 13 days now, I go in on mon 4/9. That sucks because I have to do a clear liquid diet on Easter when my family has a huge lunch.

I've been attempting to prep also, but I haven't gotten too far due to pain and fatigue. I'll be flying 2.5 hrs away for this surgery, I stay overnight in the hospital, then at a nearby hotel, and fly back home at 3rd day post op. Soooo....I have a lot of planning/packing/prep. My surgery is laproscopic and I recently had a diagnostic laparoscopy so I remember what recovery was like. But of course recovery will be more intense now because of the hysterectomy and ill also have endo excised. Of course in prep I plan to cook and freeze meals. Have enough clothes for my kids because the weather will probably break during my early post op days, handle bills, clean up the yard so I can sit outside and relax while the kids play, ive started shooping for things ill need (pads, ribe, nightgowns, showering products)
