Ice packs for swelling

Hello ladies. Well today has been crappy, woke up this morn feeling aweful, decided to just take a day of bed rest, tried anyway, lasted few hours, got up off and on throughout day to walk for bout 20min around the house, drank couple glasses of prune juice mixed with cranberry juice, used my heating pad on stomach and then decided to try ice pack wrapped in tea towel to see if that would help with the swelling and took pain meds, then slept for couple hours in afternoon...So just wondering if anyone has used ice packs on the tummy to help the swelling as ime sure if i should have done that but thought it was good idea at the time.. ime post op 19 days and miserable today, hope tomorrow is better day.

Re: Ice packs for swelling

I've used my ice pack every day since I cam home. I use it when I'm swollen. I use it when my incision is sore. The first two weeks the flesh over my pubic bone felt like it was on fire and the ice pack was the only thing that helped. I have a Therma Paq Hot/Cold therapy with a cover and it's the perfect size, weight, and moldability.

Re: Ice packs for swelling

I did after I got home for a week. I wish I had used it from the get go. It helped with my swelly belly. When my incision got hot, it helped with that as well. I bought the ACE brand reusable cold compress and also the Mueller ice bag (you put ice in the bag, the bag doesn't go into the freezer). I like the Mueller better since the cold lasts a few hours.

I still use it from time to time, especially in the evening when the swelling is worst.
