post op pooh pain

I am almost 3 weeks post op after my hysteretomy. going to the loo for nu 1 an 2 is so pain full that i want to past out. Cramps feel like spasm. Even to pass gas. If I stand up and walk around, the same feeling. I do drink a lot of water and take something to keep the bowls soft. Is there anyone els that suffer from the samething?

Re: post op pooh pain

Hi DDD, I am just a bit ahead of you...4 1/2 weeks since surgery. I had some of the same problems you are having during week 3. Lots of gas pain...it makes it scary to "go". I read that kiwi helps you go without too much extra gas...so I eat one or two every day plus the stool softener at night. It also seems to build up during the day and after dinner (not that I can eat much) it seems the worst. This week has been a bit better...just give it time. It seems this is going to take a while until we feel better...from what I read here! Good luck!

Re: post op pooh pain

Hi DDD...I'm at week 3 and still get the "spasm" right before going to the bathroom. My belly is still sore too. I have stopped the stool softeners b/c they made the cramps worse for me. Stick to a soft "veggie" diet (cooked in broth). Try NOT to eat white carbs...but whole grain, like SPELT bread (when toasted, I dice it on my spinach salad). Use lemon/olive oil for dressing...and drink tons of lemon water. OH..avocados are great too. Anything soft. I hope this helps...I'm right there with ya!

Re: post op pooh pain

I have the same thing with the number 2. Number 1 isssue worked itself out this week.
I take 3 phillups stool softeners a day, especially since I had to go back on pain killers again due to an opening in my incision. I found that if I have two strong cups of coffe in the morning I can go easier. I also eat lots of leafy green salad and had to up my protein intake. Eggs make me go, too!
Someday it will all get back to normal.
I just keep telling myself...no more fibroid pain, no more uterine cramps, no more baseball size clots, no more gushing, disgusting period. Every once in awhile my heart screams NO MORE BABIES. Although I feel my family is complete, it still feels unreal to know I can never have that again. I feel a little empty sometimes.

Re: post op pooh pain

I was like that also, I felt everything rolling through my intestines intensely. Every week gets better, but it can be slow. If you are worried or concerned, call your doctor. Keep taking stool softeners until they run out, and try not to become constipated. Not fun ... At 10 weeks out my bowels still seem sensitive. I am going normally, every day, but I feel everything in there more than before. As things heal more and more, and the weeks go by, it feels more normal. Less sensitive ... Also, my stomach is more sensitive too. I feel full really quick, so I eat smaller meals more often. Take care ... !

Re: post op pooh pain

Hello ladies, on day 14 and I am dealing with the same. Have extreme pain before number 1 and 2. Take stool softeners but still sometimes have a hard number 2 which really kills. I am hoping this will ease up soon. Btw, I also have the pain when I first stand up...... so I am right here with you!!!

Re: post op pooh pain

I am two weeks today, and the bowel and pee problems do go away, i can honestly say I feel almost normal now. Its weird though, I don't have to go #2 as often or #1, guess thats a bonus of having my huge uterus removed!! Good luck, it will pass!!

Re: post op pooh pain

At week one, I am having this problem so bad that I sometimes cry out in pain. The spasms are awful. I am going to have to find foods that help. I will try the Kiwi fruit suggestion. My mom says that pineapple is also good.
