Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

Does anyone else have a swelly belly before surgery? About two months ago I bloated up to the point where I can't wear my regular pants. When I eat a meal I look 4 months pregnant. Surgery is scheduled for April 13 and I am hoping this takes care of it. I am a runner and have continued to run throughout this whole ordeal and have not gained any weight, just look preggers. Anyone? Diane

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I have exactly the same problem! Had to borrow maternity pants from my sister, and that's all I fit in these days. My doc absolutely refuses to believe it could have any connection to the lg fibroids, but it's a heck of a coincidence otherwise. I'm also a runner and do pilates several times per week. No weight gain. Just the belly. I'm very self-conscious about it, although I suppose that's just vanity. It's hard not looking like myself. You?

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I don't have fibroids, but have suspected adenomyosis and I suspect the post ablation/post tubal syndrome as I have had both procedures. My uterus is enlarged, but it has been for years, just all of a sudden I bloated up and stayed that way. Yes I am very self conscious because everyone here at work knows I run marathons and do yoga and really eat healthy. They probably think what the heck is she doing? One "friend" even asked if I was gaining weight! So just two more weeks of finding things to wear that are appropriate for work and then I can hang out in my nighties at home and let my swelly belly heal. lol

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

Ha! I'm looking about 4 or 5 months preg, too, and I got the evil eye from some folks at a party when I had a glass of wine. Didn't really want to talk about my uterus with semi-strangers, so I just let them think what they wanted. Awkward at the time but funny afterwards.

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I have the exact same thing- when I wake in the morning, I look pretty good- but as the day goes on and I eat or drink- I bloat up........I am having a hysterectomy next week- I do have severe endometriosis......stage 4......... It could be that---------I have had a D&C last july, and an endometrial ablation last december- I started with pain again last month- and doctor did a ultrasound- I have 3 cysts in my left ovary...... also a tilted uterus.... I am happy to say- finally to be getting rid of this discomfort and be back to my normal self again

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I seriously just posted a question on this yesterday...so heck yeah I am swelly already! I guess we are just overachieving by running ahead of schedule? <insert sarcasm here>

We will appreciate our amazingly flat post op bellies that much more once we are all back in action

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I'm so glad to know it's not just me. My doc really won't believe the belly has anything to do with what's going on with my uterus. She had me almost convinced. So much so that I was afraid it would be like this even after the surgery and recovery. Much more optimistic now!

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

Thanks everyone. I was starting to feel totally hopeless as it continues to swell no matter if I eat or not. Even in the morning it protrudes now. Why do you suppose the doctors say "no"?

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I too have bloating and a swollen belly. My OB did say that because my uterus is 3x the normal size that I should expect a smaller belly and weight loss with a hysterectomy. I dont know if I believe that because I have heard from other sources that the hormone changes will cause weight gain.

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I have the same problem. I went away with a friend for the weekend and she saw what I was like in the morning and and she couldn't believe how big my belly was by the end of the day. Add to that the back ache, continuous bleeding, pain etc tec. I can't wait for Monday to come so I can finally be rid of all this. Starting to get a bit nervous now though.
