Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

Ladies, I'm just going to tell you my experience so far. I am 2 months post op. I have my last post op appt tomorrow. My doctor told me MAYBE I would lose my belly. No guarantee I got my hopes up so high, thinking I would lose weight because others have. I had a very large fb, endometriosis and a falling bladder. So it made sense to me I would lose my belly and weight. I was gassy bloated and had constipation all the time. Yes my belly has come down from surgery but I still have a pot belly. Doc says it could take up to 12 weeks. I also have not lost any weight. Now I am going to focus harder on losing weight because before the surgery I was pre-menopause and couldn't lose weight.

I am still tired when I overdue, but do not have to deal with PMDD, MIGRAINES, PAIN, GOING THRU MENOPAUSE....I'LL TAKE THAT...I'M VERY HAPPY WITH MY HYSTERECTOMY!!!

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

Thank God! I thought it was just me, that I was complaining too much, it was all in my head (and my gut). I am the Poofinator! the last two months nothing but poof. It's so uncomfortable that it has even changed my walk by the time the evening comes. Just miserable. Sorry for your pain and poofiness but thanks for sharing it cause I thought something was terribly wrong. So ready to have this all out of me!

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

muffn43, I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well. From what you say recovery is also going well. If swelly belly is all you have left waiting 12 weeks doesn't seem so bad. Thank you for your reply. I will keep praying for all of us to find relief at some point after surgery. I can't believe so many of us are experiencing this. At least we are not alone.

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I had this same issue. I found that yes, my large fibroids had something to do with it.

Remember, that you will be swollen for a while after your surgery. I had mine back in Aug & I still swell some, especially after I exercise.

I also will say, that I caught a bug/salmonella/ecoli (maybe suddenly have IBS) or something, this time last year and it caused me to blow up like a balloon every time I ate. I only had a CT done to make sure I didn't have diverticulitis. (came back ok) but doc wanted to do a colonoscopy & EGD and test for the other stuff. I didn't have the money. I still have digestive issues w/swelling when I eat.

So, I suggest you make sure you don't have something else going on.

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

My swelly belly has brought friends. OMG gas. I can not tell you how horrible it smells but I feel a little better when I let it go. I am now sitting at my desk with a fan to blow it away and tums to try and soothe the swelling.

So glad I am not alone

Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

I have just found HysterSisters, I am so pleased I found you. My Hyst. Has not been given a date yet, but I have 3 prolapses. I live in the U.K. So it may be different. However, my belly is swelling, I feel like its suddenly developed over the past week. I haven't consulted with GP but its starting to get me down. I hope after surgery will make it reduce!!!

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

My surgery is Friday. Thank you all for responding to my post. I was thinking this swelly belly thing was just after surgery. That I was prepared for, the before I was not. I had to buy new pants and baggy shirts to cover up. In my yoga gear I just go with the pregnant look. Lol. Looking forward with trepidation to getting this surgery behind me and recovering. Wishing you all the best of wishes! Diane

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

My surgery is Friday, too. I'm also looking forward to getting through this. I cannot WAIT to run again without pain! I'm nervous, but not nearly to the extent I was before finding this community. I'm so grateful!

Re: Swelly belly BEFORE surgery

My swelly belly is causing pain and the worst gas ever. I can't go to the bathroom without cramps either.

Anyone else? Please don't leave me on this funky limb alone.
