Re: I am a mess

I am a walker too! The one good thing about that is that it is the one few exercise things you can do after surgery. Short, frequent walks.

in there. There will be good days and bad days, both before and after surgery.

Re: I am a mess

Big sigh.

Today was my pre-op visit with my doctor. I was all ok until she said when reviewing my EKG the cardiologist wants to check me (further tests like stress test I think). I said I had not had an EKG since April 2011 (before my hernia repair surgery). Anyway I went for a new EKG and my blood work. Tomorrow they will call and let me know if the cardiologist still wants more testing.

My mind went straight to heart attack candidate and I stressed myself out. My husband says it is all about defensive medicine now-a-days because of so many law suits and precautionary. Maybe. But I do take BP med (its under control) and cholesterol med (my choles is now total of 156 so that is good) and I am 63.

Can anyone encouragement (again) to not think the worse?

Will this nightmare ever end?

HELP!

Re: I am a mess

NotBrave, I'm 60 and in good shape and work out, and I also had the same thing. I would rather they be extra cautious and I think that's all it is. Your husband is right, they are so afraid of law suits, etc. that the take extra precautions probably just because of your age. I think that's good. You will come out just fine. Just think - every day is one day closer to being done with this and on your way to complete recovery. The waiting was absolutely the hardest part by far. Remember to take it one day at a time.

Sending you lots of

Re: I am a mess

NotBrave, I was also 46 at the time of my hysterectomy, in good shape, a healthy weight and they did the same thing to me. Blood work (they took alot of viles!), EKG, BP, heart rate, etc. They need to do this because this is major surgery. The other sisters are right - think of it as a freebie checkup

Deep breath, sweetie. We will get you through this. The weekend is almost here. Try to relax and have some

Re: I am a mess

Hi Notbrave,

I'm sure they do these test's on everyone who is about to go for an operation, they need to make sure they give you the right amount of anesthetic do blood test for different things just make sure you are ok for the op Look at it as a free body MOT.

Re: I am a mess

It is very routine. Age and anything previously heart related even if under control, they do this for your security.
