dVH with cervix removal and bladder lift

I am waiting on biopsy results to come back before we schedule surgery but I am hoping (crazy word for this kind of surgery I know) to be able to schedule before the end of the month. My doctor wants to take my will be taking my uterus and cervix. I get to keep both my ovaries.....Yeah no HRT for me. He also wants to lift my bladder. I have a tipped uterus so it has already put pressure on it with child birth and now with the fibroids, it has undergone more weight to where I can't jump, run, cough (flu season was rough) without leakage. I wonder if anyone else has had to have the bladder lift with there hysterectomy. Did it increase your recovery time, is there anything I "need to know". I can't seem to find too much information really on a bladder lift in conjunction with a hysterectomy.

Re: dVH with cervix removal and bladder lift

Hey, me too! My bladder is the main reason I am having a vaginal hyst.
keeping ovaries. I am getting some kind of sling. I had gotten so nervous about this whole thing they gave me 10 xanax to get me thru, and I can tell you they are helping, even though I'm cutting the 5mg pills in half. I am going in to surgery on monday, and read my name on the list of princess going to surgery, crap that made me sit up and take notice. It's really going to happen.
Does getting a bladder lift increase your recovery time?

Hi there ladies, I'm 15 days post-op. Had DVH removing everything except ovaries and had a bladder lift/sling. The sling does nothing to your recovery time

Re: dVH with cervix removal and bladder lift

I am almost 6 months post and I had full reconstruction of my bladder when I had my hyster... My Uterus was fused to my back and my bladder was fused to my uterus. I too had a tilted uterus. I had Adenomyosis.
I had a lot of pain while the catheter was in but once removed I felt tons better. I have had only a minor issue since. I get a crampy feeling if I wait too long to pee. It is not that bad but I have to be careful not to wait too long...
I had an easy recovery and was up and about within days. Back to almost normal at a week (except for exhaustion).
Hope this helps..

Re: dVH with cervix removal and bladder lift

Thanks to all for the replies. I think I'm more worried about the bladder lift than I am the hysterectomy. As an educator there are so many "fun" things I can't do with my students (pre-k) because of the leakage. I'm a big kid at heart and the fact that I can't play with my kids like I would like bothers me. I'm more encouraged about the end benefits of this series of surgies that I have to have than I am worried about the surgery and recovery process. I'm ready to be back to "normal" or better.

Re: dVH with cervix removal and bladder lift

My uterus is the size of a soccer ball (about 5 mos or 20 weeks pregnant) if that helps describe your size better.
