Resceduled for a TVH

I have been rescheduled from a laprascopic to a TVH due to the cost. Originally i was keeping my cervix and now the DR is going to take both. He is concerned about prolapse after removing the cervix. He thinks I am to young to have this type of operation. Has anyone else heard of this prolapse and concerns? I have no bladder problems as of now so I would like to think I am going to be ok with not having a prolapse.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to reschedule your surgery. I have heard of prolapse following hysterectomy. Unfortunately, I don't have any statistics on the subject, so I don't really know if it is a common occurrence or not.

Here is an article you might find interesting regarding keeping or removing your cervix.

I would sit down with your doctor and discuss his reason for wanting to remove it, especially if it is something you are not comfortable with. Also, ask him if he can provide you with any statistics regarding the risk of prolapse.

I hope you get some answers. to you!!
