Pulsating Ache/Pain in Perineum

Hi everyone ..

Im 24 days post op today and had just my Uterus removed along with a cyst on my Fallopian Tube, plus I also had a Tension Free Vaginal Tape.

In the middle of the night last night, I woke up to a horrible pulsating deep ache in my Perineum that just wouldn't go away .. I tossed and turned for about 20 minutes, hoping it would stop, but I eventually had to get up and sit on the toilet, wondering whether it might be something to do with an impending BM or gas, but it wasn't.

I went back to bed and it eventually stopped after about 10 minutes, and as yet, it hasn't returned.

It did worry me, and I have decided that if it returns I will go and see my Doctor, but in the meantime, I was just wondering if anybody else had had this happen to them?

Re: Pulsating Ache/Pain in Perineum

I am 5 weeks out and have had this a couple of times. Man does it hurt. I found if I sat in one position too long, this came on. And to boot, we can't have a bath to help. I just wait it out, I don't have a solution for you, sorry, but you are not alone.

Hi Raurietate, and thanks for your reply

Im guessing that like me, you havn't experienced this before you had your surgery? ... Ive heard we are pulled around quite a bit when we are under the anaesthetic, and I was wondering whether it was some sort of muscle trauma, or like you mentioned, some sort of cramp due to all the sitting around we are doing .. Anyway, im hoping that it was a one off for me, because it was extremely painful and worrying at the same time not knowing what was causing it ... We should mention it at our 6 week check up

Hi, I had this 3 nights ago and it scared me! I am going to ask about it at my next appointment.

Re: Pulsating Ache/Pain in Perineum

Mine is usually accompanied by a need to go to the bathroom and it has made me almost cry at times because it hurts so bad. But after I go to the bathroom, it goes away.

I hope it doesn't come back for you! It's just weird all the things in our body that are affected by this surgery.

Did anyone ask her doctor about this? I am getting weirded out and anxious about all that is going on in there.

My post-op appointment is Wednesday. I will probably ask my doctor then.

Re: Pulsating Ache/Pain in Perineum

So far, thank goodness its only happened to me once, and I hope it stays that way ... Thinking back, I was doing quite a few Kegel Exercises that day, and im wondering if I overdone it, and sent the muscle into a spasm.

Does anyone else think it might be to do with Kiegels?

If your kegels were that same day, maybe!

Re: Pulsating Ache/Pain in Perineum

I've had this as well and i find that sitting on a soft ice pac alleviates it. I have my 6week check up today and will be asking about it.
