Trying to figure out how I am going to manage.

I am scheduled for surgery April 24th. My husband will be home with me for a few days, but he cant take a lot of time off work. I am at home with a 2 year old most of the day, and I managed when I had my gallbladder out in January, but I am really nervous about doing it this time.

You will probably need help with your little one for a few weeks, as well as help cooking, dishes, driving, cleaning, etc. You will probably experience extreme fatigue - just showering will be a daily accomplishment.

I have never had gall bladder surgery, but from the posts I have read, having a hysterectomy was a lot tougher.

Good luck..

Re: Trying to figure out how I am going to manage.

I have had my gallbladder out and it was nothing compared to my hysterectomy. The fatigue is the worst followed by discomfort. Not pain, just like you can't get comfortable. That feeling lasted for about 3 weeks for me. Just remember to not do any of the forbidden things (bending, lifting, straining, etc.) and you should be okay. But yeah, definitely get help with your child. Kids are hard to take care of when you are healthy much less right after surgery. All the best to you!
