Lower back pain? Lower back pain?

Lower back pain?

I am three days post RALH, and while my belly doesn't feel too bad, my lower back is sooooo sore. The pain is very low down, around the tailbone area. That area feels bruised and tender, and it's hard to get comfortable.

Has anyone else had this? I am wondering if it's from the surgery or from arranging myself in odd positions. Sitting up straight doesn't feel that good.

TIA for any feedback!

Re: Lower back pain?

Mine hurts too, but I know it is from sitting down 99% of the day. Do you have any muscle relaxers you can take? What about a heating pad?

Re: Lower back pain?

Having a sore back is a common complaint. It could be part of the position you were in during surgery (DvH surgeries are usually long) or it could be because you are using your back muscles to compensate for your tummy muscles. I hear that many ladies use a heating pad or cold packs and it helps.

Re: Lower back pain?

I am on week 2 of my recovery from a TAH. I had horrible back pain like what you're describing. What helped was not sitting too long, and also taking Ibuprofen. It still hurts at times but it's not that bad. Hope it helps!

Feel better and Happy Healing

Re: Lower back pain?

I felt that today too. My back was burning for compensating for not over using my stomach muscles. Ibuprofen is good because it is anti inflamitory. Keep changing positions and move as long as its not strenuous or anything. I said I feel my age today lol. I didn't get sore like this after csection because I was up and moving real soon with my babies.

Re: Lower back pain?

My Dr. told my husband that I would have alot of lower back pain as he put alot of stitches in there to tighten everything up and it will be pulling. I am day 7 today and woke up with no back pain! Going to try to hold out on pain meds as long as possible today. I've been up for almost 2 hrs and been at computer and took a shower. Going to take it easy and see how long this lasts.

LOL Hubby just asked me what am I going to do today. Dugh!! Sit on that couch!

Re: Lower back pain?

Oh, thanks! I have been taking Motrin every 6 hours, which is somewhat helpful. I like the heating pad idea and will try it out later today. My heating pad and I have developed a close relationship over the past few months.
