Upside Down??

My DIL just called to ask for more details about my surgery. And she asked if I would be hanging upside down. Really??? That's a new one to me? Is that true? I'm having Robotic Laproscopy.

Re: Upside Down??

She is talking about the position they put patients in when doing surgery. It is not upside down, but the patient is inclined back (feet above head) so they can see better. You won't be awake when they do it, and when you wake up you will be in a normal position.

Re: Upside Down??

I had my pre op today and asked the nurse about this. She did tell me I would be inclined with feet above head level so all my insides would shift a bit for the Dr to get to *things* better. She warned me that my face might be puffy for a few days afterwards because of this. She also told me I would be seatbelted to the table to make sure I did not go anywhere.

Re: Upside Down??

I had da Vinci a week ago. I was told about the inclined position beforehand. I never noticed anything weird from it when I woke up.I heard I may have a bad headache after, but I didn't.

Re: Upside Down??

My face never got fat from it and I have never read a post on here where anyone else mentioned that.
