Re: What did you ask the doctor at your pre-op visit

If you click on the Pre-Op link above, then there is a "Questions to Ask" tab that's a really good place to start. You and I are having DvH on the same day so I've already had my pre-op. I had an endometrial biopsy and blood work, and it was an opportunity to ask questions. Bring up any concerns and don't think twice about calling them if you think of anything later. My main concern was recovery time and anesthesiology....long story short when I had Novasure I found out I was allergic to Zofran. Anyway, I would start writing down questions so you don't forget anything. Good luck!!

Re: What did you ask the doctor at your pre-op visit

Hey, I'm having my DVH on the 19th as well! My pre-op is tomorrow. I'm doing an hour long appt with my surgeon and then they said the hospital will take 2 hours for their pre-op stuff. What did yours entail?

Re: What did you ask the doctor at your pre-op visit

Wow! Mine wasn't nearly as long. I only had what I mentioned above....endometrial biopsy, blood work and discussion with my doctor. This took around an hour. Hospital called yesterday and went over a bunch of things like medications to avoid, any drug allergies, what to bring the day of surgery (i.d., insurance card), etc. Supposedly I'm good to go.

Re: What did you ask the doctor at your pre-op visit

After I posted here, the hospital called me to confirm tomorrow's appointment. It looks like I get a full physical, ekg, lab work and paperwork. I live an hour from my surgeon so tomorrow will be a looooong day.

It certainly will be!! I'm surprised you have to go through all that, but all of us are different and doctors do things differently as well. Good luck tomorrow!!

I'm not a wuss about surgery for some reason but needle pokes annoy me too! I wouldn't even get an epidural during 2 childbirths. See you gals in our post-op club

Re: What did you ask the doctor at your pre-op visit

I'm trying so hard to be positive here, because I know we're all going through the same things and I don't want to freak anyone out. Needles don't really bother me, but that endometrial biopsy really stunk!! Nurse totally lied to me too and said it wasn't much worse than a pap smear. The only good thing is that is was over relatively quickly. I kept telling myself that all of this will eventually mean less pain, and it's better than being doubled over every month, so it's worth it. Anyway, I hope neither one of you goes through that and the worst is a needle poke. :-)
