"Major Surgery"

Is a LSH considered (in your mind etc..) a major surgery?

Re: "Major Surgery"

It my mind it is a major surgery done in a minimally invasive manner. A portion of a body's organ is being removed, but it will be removed in a less than major way.

Does that help?

Re: "Major Surgery"

I agree with the first response. On the outside it looks minor, but what they do inside you is pretty major.

Re: "Major Surgery"

I agree that it is a major surgery. They are removing organs from your body. Having an ingrown toenail removed imo is a minor surgery.

Re: "Major Surgery"

Yes, very major. When you hear the " non invasive" stuff that actually means your stitches on your tummy are not as big as the gals that have to be cut wide open. In some cases they do it all vaginally with no tummy cuts. All the stuff they do on the inside is major surgery. We all have different assorted lists of what repairs are made, but these repairs are all major surgery, regardless of how they get The knife inside! Example for perspective..Your appendix is tiny and surgery for removal requires only one small incision. It is however still classified as major surgery.Definitely not as major as most hysterectomies, but still major surgery in my opinion.

Re: "Major Surgery"

I just looked up major surgery and the definition says if anesthesia and respiratory assistance are required it is major surgery regardless of the procedure.

Re: "Major Surgery"

You also wind up with hundreds of stitches inside, and if you had your cervix removed, your surgeon built a new "cervix" for you. On top of that, your body is going into complete hormonal uproar which could take months to settle down.

So, yes, even though you wind up with tiny incisions, it is still fully major surgery.
