You can find out more about the origin of expressions used on this site ~ such as Princess and Castle ~ by checking out this article <link> Author's Welcome in our Princess Bedtime Stories.

Enjoy!

Re: Castle?

I don't know about anyone else, and maybe it's cultural (I'm not American) but I find these euphemisms rather childish. I'm not a princess, I'm a woman. It's not a castle, it's a hospital. Changing the names doesn't change the reality. If you're on this site you have faced a large dose of reality, no? Why hide from it? But each to his (or her) own....

I'm guessing that you didn't actually read the author' welcome posted above.

It explains exactly where the terms came from....and it was just a way to pass the authors time when she was recovering...it turned into a meme and she rolled with it on her new site.

Nothing to do with hiding from reality. and not childish if you read the backstory.

I imagine we are all going to have to find things to distract ourselves with...and weather it is writing fairytale themed recovery stories, reading a book, or posting on a message board....it is just a distraction that we will all need from the pain.

I did read it actually - I, personally, didn't find it useful. I'm not criticising or judging those who do, just giving my opinion. If it helped you, that's great.

Re: Castle?

Personally, to each her own. That part of the site is not for me, either, but others seem to like it and that's fine. It's just not appealing to me. And it seems possible to use the site and just ignore that aspect of it, so I do. I read the stories but again, just not for me. If it works for others that's nice but I figure, take what you like on the site and leave the rest, there is a lot to choose from.

Hmmm....sort of like me going into someone's home and telling them I don't like their choice of curtains.

Re: Castle?

Well, the windows COULD use a washing...

...KIDDING!

To each their own in life. This is a scary time. If being a princess in a castle helps to alleviate that, I say, "Huzzah!" I also feel like I should curtsy. Is it just me?
