3 Weeks Post Op and I had a set back

Surgery was 3/28 and had a tough 7-10 days with pain (which I could deal with) and extreme depression (I'm not an overly emotional person and I just couldn't stop the tears!!!). Finally was feeling better and thought I had reached a turning point.
THEN.....Last week (16 days after surgery) I had extreme cramping and bleeding. After a few hours it got so bad the Dr. had me come in. Apparently I had pulled some stitches and since I'm on blood thinners (for a past TIA), he couldn't stop the bleeding. I had to go to the ER, get admitted and go in for surgery AGAIN to repair what was torn. I couldn't believe it!! I felt like I had taken a GIANT STEP BACKWARDS! I had just started going back to work part-time (I have a desk job so I didn't think it was a big deal! But right now I am the 'bread winner' and needed to go back) Had to take more time off this week and I'm easing back into my life. I feel like people are getting tired of not seeing me back to normal by now (incl my hubby, boss, friends, etc). Trying to stay positive (Thank Goodness for my spiritual books and Tony Robbins!!) Glad to have this site in my life!

oh my... that stinks! I had my surgery the day after you. I have felt really good- almost too good I think because I have been over doing it, and now I have bronchitis??? lesson to all: please do NOTHING the first couple of weeks! I drove, went out to dinner, had tons of visitors and even 'outer' sex.... I am now sick and exhausted and the unstoppable coughing is killing me! take recovery easy......

Re: 3 Weeks Post Op and I had a set back

That sucks having to go back to work so soon. If you have to work, then see if there is somewhere you can lie down for a mid-morning break, and then when you get home lie down and take a long nap.

Tell your hubby, friends, and boss that it takes at least 6 weeks to get through the initial phases of healing. This is major surgery! There are no short cuts to the healing process - but doing too much just slows it down. If you are working, you shouldn't be doing anything else - no housework, no cooking, no shopping. At three weeks post-op you shouldn't be doing these things anyway! You are already doing too much. If you need more time off work, your doctor should be approve you for time off under the family and medical leave act. (FMLA protects your right to your job.)

Re: 3 Weeks Post Op and I had a set back

yeah,i had to suffer thru my setback, having to work in the public eye and having to be nice all the time(i wait tables).it was just horrible but my dr said there was nothing i could do besides just rest, use ice and take pain pills.it eventually quit but it even got to where i couldnt hardly pee.excruciating pain.so please everyone remember you have had major surgery ,it doesnt matter what type of hyster.you had, your insides doesnt know the difference.
