3 Years Post-Op and new symptoms

Hi Sisters,
I am hoping someone out there has or is experiencing the same issues I am. A little history, I had my first Lapro done in 2003 and apparently was full of adhesions. My uterous was connected to my colon which caused a lot of discomfort. My doc was shocked that this was my first abdominal surgery because of all the adhesions. In 2006 I'm not quite sure what was wrong because I was in a German hospital and didn't get a lot of answers. I went in for a MRi and next thing I know I was in the OR. I awoke to having a drainage tube coming out of my abdomen. I believe I had an ovarian cyst rupture which caused some internal damage. I had another Lapro in 2006 to remove adhesions and finally had my hysterectomy in 2008, I still have one ovary. I have felt pretty good since then until the past few months. I often feel like I have menstrual cramps with the back pain, diarrhea, and all. It also feels like I have the same type of ligament pain that I had when I was pregnant. I get sharp pains in my lower sides and pelvic area if I stretch or move too fast. The sharp pain goes away but I'm left with a dull ache. After having sex, I have the worst pain for 24-48 hours. I cramp so bad and also have gastrointestinal symptoms. I've talked to my doctor and she thinks that I may have an intolerance to dairy or IBS. The thing is, I don't think so. I don't get intestinal cramps after eatring or drinking, it's very random how it comes on. I'm hoping someone has/is experiencing similar symptoms and can lead me in the right direction or at least make me feel a little less crazy! Thanks

Re: 3 Years Post-Op and new symptoms

I am sorry to hear you are still having problems. Before I had my tah/bso I got the IBS diagnosis when they could find no other reason for my swelling. I did stop dairy products and the results were shocking. I actually started to feel better. I than stopped sugar/yeast and flour products. I was much better for many years. That is; until the female problems took over. Please don't discount the idea that what you are eating/drinking may be having an effect on things. I have learned the hard way that what we put in our bodies can have a profound effect. Since my tah/bso I had some testing done and have found that I am allergic to a bunch of stuff.

It may be helpful for you to keep a journal of your symptoms. Be sure and write down everything you have eaten, drank and other things that are going on.

Also, as you kept an ovary(s) if they are working it is still possible to have PMS type symptoms, including cramping. The journal may help to see if it is cylical.

I would also suggest consulting with a gastro doctor.
