Waiting to see

During my physical last month I was told that I have a fibroid tumor and an ultrasound was performed showing a 5 inch fibroid. My family physician has told me that she recommends a hysterectomy but is sending me to an OB/GYN. Right now, I'm just waiting. The appointment is for January 24th. In the past month I've learned a lot about fibroids and boy does it explain a lot! I've had stress incontinence for about 5 to 10 years and haven't sought medical attention because I thought it was my pelvic floor muscles and my body was giving out and I was getting old and fat and.... at any rate it's a very embarrasing condition that I've kept to myself for a very long time. As it turns out the fibroid has been pressing on my bladder and all the kegals in the world weren't going to help me. I also had very long, painful, clotty periods that are just getting worse and worse and longer and longer. I remember my mother had heavy periods so I thought it was normal and would just have to wait till menopause began. Now that I know what's causing my problem I just want it fixed but am a bit anxious about what to expect during the surgery and after. I'm glad I found this website and a support group.

Welcome Dollie_o

I just found the site about a week ago. Im schedualed for a TVH on the fifteenth. We are hoping to save both ovaries, but my GYN told me not to hope to much.

I can't offer much help about the how to's and things yet. But I have had a wonderful experience here with the Princess' and LIW supporting and offering their own experiences.

You are not alone, although we all have different circumstances leading to this, and different procedures. We are all going through this difficult phase. And we are all able to confer and share with each other. Our fears are not just Our Own. Read, read, read, I know you'll find some peace of mind and many answers to your questions and fears. I have.

I am so very greatful to have been directed to the site.

Hi there! I, too, am new to this site and very anxious about this whole "event"! My TAH is scheduled for 1/23...I guess I'm glad it's soon because that doesn't give me very long to worry and become more and more nervous!

Like you, I want to know what to expect before and after. I don't like surprises!

Good luck and God Bless!
