MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

I am nervous but in sort of a good way. I am looking foward to the relief i ill feel when I am all healed and on the mend. I recieved some bad news last night however. My family ( my husband and children and myself) have been having a tuff go for the last sevral months. My son came to me Wednseday night and said he was having bad dreams and hearing voices. I took him to our family therapist thinking mental illness and that is not the case. Apparently my son is having what is called absence seizures. I having made all the phone calls for him today and geting all the referals done over the phone through his ped and my husband is out of town until late tonight. UGH! What timeing. He is my baby even though he is 13. I tell everyone he makes it so easy to be a mother and he a marvelous child. When will I be up and able to take him to all of his appointments to get him looked at? I know Dad is going to be driving and doing all that for a while. Bu I think this is going to take sometime to get to the bottom of.

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

I'm so sorry you are going though all this. I had DvH yesterday and feel amazingly well today, but everyone is different and there seems to be a wide variety of recovery times. I imagine I'll probably be driving in a few more days but I know I'm ahead of the curve. Do you have anyone nearby you can depend on? I know how hard it is to ask for help but in this situation I think you really need to. Take care of yourself and best of luck with your surgery and recovery.
Hugs,
Chris

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

My dear friend lives about 5 miles from me and she is telling me to give her something to do while I am down and out. She claims she is going to be mad if she has nothing to do. Our family lives about an hour away but sometimes they can be more trouble than they are worth. I tried to explain to my mother in law that I did not want to come over to her house Sunday night because i was having to do the ozmo prep starting at 2pm and I did not care what surprise she had for my husband. It would have to wait until I was back up on my feet and ready to go.And my mother is staying the night Sunday to get the kids off to school on monday morning beings as I have to be to the hospital so early in the moring. But she has become her a handful as well. My husband is very supportive and I know he is going to get me through this all the way. He is the greatest and I have got one perfect man. We just need to get are boy on the mend now. I am hiring a house cleaning crew to come in once a week for the first month too. I thought that would help because my husband is not about the detail cleaning. Although he tries.:

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

Sweetie,

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this. I am sure it is so difficult to have this on your plate.

Recovery is different for everyone, but you need to plan on probably being down for a few weeks. If you heal faster, then great. Be very careful with driving after surgery. You need to make sure you can operate the vehicle in any situation - e.g. a hard stop, hard turn, etc. Follow your doctor's restrictions to the letter.

Good luck with your surgery. We will be waiting for you on the other side.

Sounds like you have a good support system, and a fantastic husband, but please remember you need to heal yourself so that you can heal your son. Don't try and do too much too fast, okay?

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

I understand that. I am just upset because most of the docs that our insurance will cover to treat his disorder are an hour away. Will I be comfrotable as a passanger in the car? I just feel like I need to be apart of these appointments for my son. I am sure we won't get the referals back until the middle of or late next week. So appointments won't be booked until the follwing week.I just can't belive the timing of this. He passed out agin today in school and it scares him so I have to go and pick him up. Apparently he gets almost like an aura of hearing voices and seeing blue lights and that is just before the seizure occurs. So instead of just relaxing and allowing his body to go into the seizure that will only zone him out for 10-30 seconds he becomes parinod and faints. I understand that and him being scared. It is not like a convulsion seizure. UGH! I need to relax this weekend before Monday morning!

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

Your son definitely needs to see someone.

Depending on the timing this may or may not work out. Overall, car rides can be tough at first. As well as sitting around in waiting rooms, etc. All of that stuff takes more energy than you realize. You will be extremely fatigued, maybe really sore, and may not be able to do it. You are right - this is terrible timing. I am so sorry.

Good luck with your surgery.

We will be waiting for you on the other side...

Re: MOnday is my big day and still am nervous

I had a DaVinci hysterectomy March 27 and car rides really didn't bother me at all, even right after surgery, as long as I had a pillow to put between my belly and the seat belt. But I DID get tired really quickly, and a 2 hour round trip car ride plus a doctor's appointment would've left me napping for the whole rest of the day.

Everybody's different--try to listen to your body and take good care of yourself!!! If you're back in the hospital because you did too much too soon, you won't be able to help your son, so take it easy! Best wishes to you!
