Pre-Op ultrasound and colon hiding left ovary??

Hi All
Just had another vaginal ultrasound yesterday. The doctor couldn't find my left ovary. He said it was behind my colon. Has anyone ever heard of this? Should I be worried...I am always worried about something!!! Nothing is ever textbook for me!

I did not have that happen but I have had tons of things that went wrong at different times. i know how you feel about things not being "textbook" They never are for me either...
I am sure it is fine but ask your doc... it is why he is there... to answer questions and help you feel better...

"Hiding" isn't a thing to be afraid of. The U/S tech just couldn't see your ovary because your intestines were in the way. Think of it this way: your friend is to meet you for lunch at a restaurant. She arrives but can't find you because you're seated behind a pillar. You're there and healthy and happy you are just hidden by the pillar. You are perfectly textbook.

My lefty was hiding every time! My doc wasn't concerned and she still found it during surgery.

Re: Pre-Op ultrasound and colon hiding left ovary??

My right ovary was hiding when we were looking at the humongous tumor. The sonographer finally found it, snugged up under my small intestine at my navel! The tumor pulled my uterus over to the left of center and it caused the right ovary and fallopian tube to move to center. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Pre-Op ultrasound and colon hiding left ovary??

That's very normal. My left ovary is very high and far back and it makes it impossible for them to see it on a transvaginal ultrasound. My doctor just simply said that that's the way God made me and there is no reason to be concerned with it.
