Re: Pre-op support

Things I did that helped me along were drinking a lot of water, eating lean proteins, veggies, yogurt. Walking is really good as well! Good luck on your surgery and hope you have a great recovery!

Re: Pre-op support

There are several things you can do during recovery. You need to rest, rest, and rest some more. Take short, frequent walks Gassy foods should be avoided, and drinking lots of water helps. There is a big to !!!! Get lots of help from family and friends with those household chores and shopping. And a dirty house or dust bunny never hurt anyone.

Listen carefully to your body, it trumps brain during recovery. Your brain may go a little bonkers during this time, but you need to get your rest. You only get one chance to heal right. Just keep telling yourself that. Your body will tell you if you are pushing too hard.

Good luck to you...

Re: Pre-op support

have lots of pre made or prepared foods on hand....ginger tea, peppermint tea, peppermints, gas x pills, stool softners if needed, lots and lots of water, plain greek yogurt has lots of probiotics good for tummy...basically be prepared to not have to go anywhere such as grocery shopping or anything, as you will be resting lots and lots...oh ya and have big soft cuddly pillows for tummy comfort if needed...Peace be with you

Re: Pre-op support

I second guessed myself up untill the anastesilogist gave me versaid in my Iv and wheeled me into the OR, I am 18 days post op, going into what would be the start of my dreaded pms/ period weeks. I had 5 weeks to prepare which i did. I have not looked back and regreted my decision, you will feel so much better. Just stay away from foods that will give you gas, and take it easy and rest.

Re: Pre-op support

Luminous --- why did your Dr. advise a TAH vs. the SAH? I'm on the fence but currently scheduled for SAH. Thanks and best wishes!

Re: Pre-op support

Good luck Luminous on your upcoming visit to the castle. I had my TAH BSO in Feb. and it was the best decision I ever made. I do not have pain or major bleeding anymore and I feel good. Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water.
