Need some encouragement to get through this...

Hi ladies--

This chemo I'm on is getting rough and I need some encouragement. I know that I said in an earlier posting that I would go through this experience again because I'm closer to God and that is so true, but this experience is getting so depressing. My hair is starting to come out again and I'm so tired. I've actually found myself telling my husband that I want to stop taking the etoposide. I'm going to continue to take it because it is working, but the side effects are starting to get to me. I just need some encouragement from you guys for this. I pray a lot and I know a lot of people are praying for me, but the day to day stuff is so hard. I've been missing work for the past week and probably will miss some next week too, and I feel so guilty about it. My boss is very understanding (she told me "I know you don't have a hangnail!") so that helps, but I just feel guilty that I'm not out at work and participating in life like I used to. Does any of this make any sense? Do you have any advice for me?

I love you all,

Cyndy

(((Cyndy))))
I am so sorry to hear that you are having side effects with the chemo in pill form.
I was on etoposide through IV, and I was really hoping taking it in pill form would lessen any effects.

I pray that you will continue to take it, as it is working, and that is so great Cyndy. Its a really hard battle, and no one would deny the drugs are very rough, and I as well wanted to quit, so I know what you are going through. But seeing them working really helps, and the knowledge that its something that you won't be taking forever helps as well.

Please don't feel guilty about work hon. This is your health and you have to look after this first. Its very hard to concentrate on anything when you are going through this. Its great that your boss is understanding and I am sure if they were going through this, they would be taking time off as well. The chemo tires you out enough without the added pressure of a work day.

I know that your faith in God is very strong, and you know the power of prayer as well. I will keep you in my prayers as always Cyndy that things improve with the treatment, and hopefully the effects will level out for you.

Hang in there.....the day will come when all of this will be the past. You will never forget going through it, but it will get easier.

Love and Big Hugs!!
xoxo

I am soooo glad that you came here!! Let me get my pom-poms...
Come On Cyndy!! You can do this!! Fight, Fight, Fight!!!
We are all here for you dear!! I can imagine how depressing this is getting, but you have to look around and realize how you have been blessed with so many loved ones and friends!! You have a lot to fight for Cyndy!! You have a long life ahead of you and we want you to be well so that you can enjoy the most out of each day!! Have you gotten yourself a journal? It might really help you to write your feelings down on paper. I know that it helps me and I've heard that writing is one of the best things for depression! Now I could plug the journals in HS store, but you already know about them! Please don't give up and don't let this battle get the best of you. If you are tired, then nap and don't feel guilty about doing so. You are going through a lot right now and it is only understandable that you would be tired. Just relax and take this one day at a time!! We are here for you, so don't you forget it!!

s to Dear Cyndy
Just hold on tight and keep doing what you have to do!!! Sometimes when worry
gets to too big for our mortal selves, we just need to say "God, this problem is just
too darn big for me to worry over. I am giving it to you." Say this out loud and
consciously give him the worriment. When I have done this in the past, I find a
little more peace comes to me. Right before my surgery I saw a sign that said
"Let go, let God." This was my conscious thought as they begain to give me
anesthesia.
Again, I don't mean to be repetitious, but the book "There is No Place Like Hope"
was such an inspiration to me. If you could email me your address I would love
to send you a copy.
It's good that you are continuing to share your thoughts with us.
Keep posting Cyndy!!!! You can and will get through this!!!!

Hi Cyndy

It sounds like you are really having a rough time. Just remember that there is a purpose for all this. Keep telling yourself that time will make it be over, it will pass.

Work - Let your boss be merciful to you. Sometimes, we all have to accept that we have a limit to what we can do. Maybe the way your boss is behaving is their way of helping you, no pressure, it is their way of helping you, let them. Don't waste their generosity, enjoy it, and use the positiveness to get well. They must really care for you, to help you through.

You can do this. We are all thinking good thoughts and praying for you. RobinS

Cyndy:

I am usually not very good with words. I do know about some of the dreaded effects of chemo as I have seen my husband go through it and sometimes the ones closet are at a loss as to how to help.

I guess if you think that sooooo many people are rooting for you and you are in their thoughts that it may help a little to lift your spirits.

You sound like a very strong person and I am amazed that you are working -- that is so positive.

Here is a big and try to hang in there. We are all rooting for you!
