I've seen mixed reviews on this subject on several sites...since I'm having a vaginal hyster, should I have it all waxed off down there?? I have not asked my doctor yet.

I didn't touch it. Nor did the doctor

Re: Hairless?

check with your doctor...they will decide. My pre-op instructions state: "Hair Removal: Clippers" I guess I'm in for a shave & annoyance as it grows back! Best of luck with your surgery!

Re: Hairless?

I was told to not doing anything, they would take care of it and they did. The reason was if I had any type of cut they would not do the operation because of the risk of infection.

Re: Hairless?

Don't touch it. The doc will do what he needs to with it. If the area gets irritated or cut, they won't do the surgery!

Re: Hairless?

I would check with your Dr. my instructions from the hospital said to not shave for 3 days prior. My Dr. didn't discuss it with me at all.

Looking through the leaflet I was given they said to come into hospital the day before for "full shaving". So I suppose it doesn't really matter...

Yes it does matter. Coming in for a "full shaving" means you are not to touch the area at all prior to them doing the full shave for you so that they can insure there are no nicks or that if nicks occur they are treated properly to prevent infection.

No woman should shave, wax, trim, etc. without checking with her surgeon first. The surgery really can be canceled if one does it herself because of the risk of infection from even a pinprick nick.
