Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

I met with a specialist yesterday that assures me she can do my surgery laproscopically no problem. This is the best news ever!! I am ready ready ready. No more bleeding, no more cramps, no more stuck at home during my period, or ruining bed sheets and underwear. I am so glad I stuck out the wait for this Doctor rather than just getting cut open. June 12th I love you!

Re: Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

They called yesterday and rescheduled me for may 16th. I am waiting to start a new job till after surgery and she knew I would jump on any opening , so the surf coordinator asked her if she would squeeze it in! I feel very blessed. Only one more period left in my left and then freedom!

Re: Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

Yay!!! I was so ready for my hysterectomy, too. I wasn't even nervous going into the OR. When the surgeon asked if I had any other concerns I said "Nope! Let's go rip it out!" I lived with pretty much the same problems you have for years. I have ruined so many clothes, underwear and sheets and missed so many parties and other occasions being stuck at home during my period. It was the best decision I ever made. The first thing I did when I was able to get out was go to the mall and buy all new panties and a pair of white pants. I haven't had white pants in at least 10 years! I wish you the best. Life is so much better on the other side.

Hurray for you! I have to wait until June because of my job and working out the time to be off. I get to have 8 weeks in a row with only having to take 3 weeks of actual leave. My pay check is split out over 12 months but I only earn pay 10 months of the year. I'll be thinking of you having your surgery before me. I want a full report!

Full reports coming my husbands says he can't believe I am not worried like he is be cause they are taking something if my girly parts out. I said really I will be the same I am keeping my overies! What they are taking out has been a demon in my opinion. Sunday the 13th us mothers day. Wednesday the 16th is surgery. Saturday the 19th is my only child's HS graduation. It's like full circle.

I was the same way. My husband couldn't believe I wasn't scared or worried because I had never had major surgery before. I'm 47 and I have had problems with my period and pain since I was 18 and then in my late 20's, early 30's the bleeding got worse until about 8-10 years ago it got progressively worse. I was never able to get pregnant due to all the problems going on in there. I don't think hubby will ever understand the misery and inconvenience I've suffered and why I was so excited to have a hysterectomy.

Re: Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

Raven, sorry you had to endure that for so long. I started at 9 yrs old with clots and cramps and I will be 44 this Fall. I was on the pill most of my adult life to control bleeding, but I got tired of paying for them for so long when I had no insurance. I feel like a new life is out there waiting on me.

Re: Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

Wow! You started young! I'm so sorry! I tried to take birth control but they made me very sick so I just had to deal with it.

There is definitely a new life waiting for you on the other side. I've been able to accept invites and order theater tickets for any time I want without having to sit down and figure out when my period was. Wednesday was my 12 week post-op and I finally got the courage to give away all my pads and tampons. I know I haven't needed them for 3 months but after dealing with this for 20 years it's a hard habit to break.

Re: Just sceduled the surgery yesterday

I expect to be ready to roll pretty quickly after surgery. Laparoscopic is a faster recovery, or am I mistaken?
