Re: Is recovery the same for the LSH as robotic? Back to work in 2 weeks?

Sounds like you need to look for another job as soon as you can. You are too valuable a person to be treated like your health is not important. And you work for a doctors' office? Incredible. I wish you well, and quick recovery for your sake, not the boss.
I have it opposite, after reading everyone's note, I realize that I may need more time. My doctor said two weeks..and my manager says she doesn't want me back to work any sooner than 4 weeks, unless I absolutely feel great. I am worried that at the two week check up, the doctor will release me and my FMLA will go down the drain. I told the nurse that my boss said 4, and the nurse said the doctor will decide. I should have shopped around for a better doctor.

Re: Is recovery the same for the LSH as robotic? Back to work in 2 weeks?

Hi there! I didn't read all of the responses, but wanted to let you know that I went back to work at 3 weeks post-op LSH. I was cleared to go back at 2, but was working part-time at the time and the way scheduling worked out, my first day back wasn't until I was exactly three weeks out. I was a little more tired than usual the first day, but was otherwise fine. I have a busy job as well -- I'm a nurse on a busy med-surg floor -- and my doctor knew that from the get-go. He told me I could go back after one week if I really needed to, but I had enough vacation time built up that I took two.

Best wishes!! I hope everything works out for you!

Re: Is recovery the same for the LSH as robotic? Back to work in 2 weeks?

I had dvh total with omentum and lymph debulking, and was released to work at 2 weeks. I have a physical job on my feet all day. And commute 45 min each way. I went home with swelly belly and tired but only had to adhere to 30 lb lifting restriction. Now on leave because blood counts too low from chemotherapy and can't risk germs at work.
Don't be surprised-- you may do just fine to return to work! Follow all Drs orders and ask for help at home so you can recuperate quickly!

Re: Is recovery the same for the LSH as robotic? Back to work in 2 weeks?

I had dvh on Apil 19, 11 days ago and feel great. I go for my 2 week post-op Thursday and will ask to go back to work. My Dr. said about 3 weeks, but that it was different for everyone.
I took pain meds the first 2 days (only to make hubby happy), but did not find the recovery bad at all!
Best of luck to you.

I am jealous of the 30 pound lifting restriction. Mine is 10 so it really impacts my daily life. 30 would have been easier--I have a desk job and as long as I don't travel I don't lift like that unless for workouts.

Mine is also 10. I think it varies by doctor, as I had a DaVinci and no other repairs. I think even if my doctor had said 30 pounds I would have stuck to 10 just to be on the safe side.

Re: Is recovery the same for the LSH as robotic? Back to work in 2 weeks?

Boy do I feel better after finding this tread! I have been feeling so guilty about not feeling as good as I think I should. Had DaVinci, everything removed, was told could possibly return to work at 2 weeks...no way! I do return tomorrow, which will be 3 weeks, and am rather nervous; I am a gardener...not mow & blow, I do high end yard maitenence by hand that has me on my knees and up and down all day. Just before my 2 weeks I did way too much physical work that set me back. I felt worse than I had up to that point, but was not on meds. Spent two full days on the couch (which I had not done) and am feeling like I'm finally healing. Having not had the full abdominal surgery, I was convinced I should feel well sooner than I have! It's decieving for sure! And super frustrating that my outside doesn't match what my inside feels like:/
Sorry that this was sort of all over the place
