pre-op tomorrow!!

I see my Ob/Gyn tomorrow for pre-op. Ive got so many questions to ask him, and ive got most of them written down already but not sure if Im missing anything.

How long will I be at the hospital?

How long will the surgery take?

How long will I be unable to do my normal activities? (around the house, cleaning, cooking, etc.)

Will I need HRT, if so what do we use?

What are we taking out? (scheduled for TAH but unsure about ovaries)

I also got news from DH. he will be flying home May 5th..YAY!! but hes going back to work May 14th (I was told I would be at the hospital til the 10th) so not much time with him =(

I do have some friends that are going to stop by and check up on me and see if I need anything after DH goes back OTR. Im still scared and nervous.

Re: pre-op tomorrow!!

Best wishes to you in your recovery!! Take all the help people offer you, and definitely listen to the doctor's advice. Glad you're preparing well with all the questions - that will help w/the nervousness. You'll do fine, I'm sure!!

Re: pre-op tomorrow!!

Will they check your appendix and remove it if necessary?
Will they use general anesthesia or epidural?
What can you use for constipation besides the colace they normally prescribe.

Good Luck!!

Re: pre-op tomorrow!!

Hi MrzPhx,

You've got a great list of questions ready to go. Here's a link to a few more to consider, click on the tab at the top that says "Questions for the Dr."

Have fun hanging out with the hubby during the couple of days that you have him before heading to the castle! Try to get your pre-prep stuff out of the way before he gets home so that it's all about you...and him. :-)

Glad to hear that you've got a good support system ready to go! That makes a huge difference.

Hang in there, we'll help you through it!

Re: pre-op tomorrow!!

Thanks for the help with the questions. Got them all written down for tomorrow.

DH's plane lands at 515pm saturday, 2 hrs after DD's 6th birthday party is to start, BUT Ive worked it out with my sister and shes going to watch the kids (all that are invited plus mine) while I sneak off and get DH from the airport...DD still doesnt know he'll be home that day, she thinks sunday.. =)

Ive been able to control my paint and break up the cleaning so Im not doing to much. Tonight Ive done everything but resweep and mop the house. Tomorrow will be straightening my bedroom and scrubbing the tub (I did the toilet and sinks just couldnt do anymore)

Im counting down the day, then hrs til his plane lands. I can not wait to see him and be able to hug him. Its been a month already! On the other plus side (besides all the cleaning) I finally got the car fixed!! Go me! for talking sweet to my BIL an convincing him to come do it FOR FREE!!! Im so excited that its all going into place and easing my mind. I was so worried with the TAH coming up that I didnt think Id get everything done. All I have is my pre-op tomorrow, then admission papers friday.

I want to thank all my hystersisters for helping me get through this past week and easing my mind on all of this. Im so glad I found this place!
