I chose TAH over the option LAVH.. Anyone else done this??

3 weeks ago I was faced with having to make the decision of "HAVING A HYSTERECTOMY"
I AM HAVING TAH BECAUSE OF ENDOMETRIOSIS, ADHESIONS, AND I ALSO HAVE ADENOMYOSIS/W A NEW ENDOMETRIOMA(SEEN ON MRI)
Had Ovaries and tubes removed 4/2009.. + many other procedures and Eosinophilic Colitis 2/2012

I also know of someone who had the lap asst. vaginal hysterectomy and they told me CATHETAR FOR 2 WEEKS/ UTI INFECTIONS..

I feel like myself and my doctors have made the right choice
TAKE CARE FOLKS .. Best of luck !!

I had the LAVH and did not have a catheter for 2 weeks. A UTI can be common no matter the hysterectomy type.

The key with endometriosis in the picture is not the surgery type, it is the skill of the surgeon. Many endometriosis specialists are skilled minimally invasive surgeons and can do extensive surgery without an abdominal incision. On the other hand, many non-endometriosis specialist won't be able to completely excise all of the endometriosis even with an abdominal incision.

You want your surgeon to use the method that s/he is most comfortable with, but with endometriosis you also need to make sure your surgeon will be able to recognize and excise the existing endometriosis and excisions. Remember, if any endometriosis is missed it can continue to cause issues down the road.
