Bloating

Hi Ladies,
Can anyone tell me if they had bloating and constipation with an enlarger uterus? They say my uterus is 12 cm and I have had terrible constipation for a few months. Try a few different products from the doctor and they dont help. What about the bloated stomach?

Please help!

bloating

Hi there,

I don't know if my uterus is enlarged or not, but my doctor suspects that I have adenomyosis(this can cause an enlarged uterus)because of all my symptoms(see below in my signature)and bloating and constipation are other things I suffer from, but didn't before all of my gyno. related problems started. Sex is also uncomfortable and sometimes, it feels as if my womb is just going to fall out.... From what I have read on here, an enlarged uterus can cause bloating and problems with moving your bowels.

We share the same surgery date, too.

Bloating

Let's talk BLOATING! What is up with that?!? I also have an enlarged uterus. I take OTC diuretics which help some, and also Ibuprofin for the pain, but I am so very tired of it all. I see my GYN for the 1st time on Jan. 16 and it can't get here soon enough!
Does anyone know the reason behind the bloating? I can't wear my regular clothes anymore - it's just too painful, and have grown a huge tummy around the area. You're gonna laugh, but I wind up "carrying" my tummy to relieve stress on the area. Is the bloating just a common symptom with all of this? Any tips on how to cope?

Thanks!!

Humongous Uterus

Well, I'm sorry to see that I have gigantic swelly belly sisters. Most unpleasant - last time I was this big I was 8 months preggers. Suggestion for constipation - check with your doc first maybe - Citrucel tablets. I also have diverticulosis and they help A LOT.

Now about this enlarged abdomen - depending how swelly you are - let's put it this way I'm 30 lbs over my normal - up to a certain point I was wearing J.C. Penney (catalog order only) "cuff top panti liners" - Basically a girdle that hits just below your knee. Took TONS of pressure off the belly and the back. Then I got to the point I just didn't care and went to the local department store and bought 1x knit slacks. There is a website for really, really comfy soft LONG shirts that are actually feminine - www.softsurroundings.com. Good luck and I'll catch you when I get back from the castle. I shove off tomorrow morning to be there at 6:15 and surgery at 7:30. Good luck ladies. Hope any of these tips help. s Beth

Bloating

Bloating... YUCK :-)~~~
I have a 12.8cm fibroid with other " smaller" ones also... I feel like I am pregnant. Hell, till I decided on my surgery, I think I have felt pregnant over a year now... imagine that a year long pregnancy... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I am bloated & swollen, and can't fit into anything comfortably, I can't stand pressure round my stomach, oh and I pee constantly & have stress incontinence... lovely isn't it...NOT! Even though I am crazy now ( but like I said in my other post, it isn't me that is crazy, it is the penguins trying to steal my sanity), I am actually looking foreward to having this issue of as I call it " false pregnancy" solved....

Ya aint the only one...LOL.........

Divinity, you cracked me up sis! Now on to bigger and bloated things... My uterus was the size of a 12 to 16 week pregnancy and I had cysts on my overies, throw in a fybroyid or two that was on the outer layers of the uterus, constant bleeding, AND gas and constipation and wa la.... dude MAGNET...(kidding).

While my doctor was determining my need for surgery I would call and ask is this normal and is that normal... WELL, Citrucel became a cocktail at my house...plus anti acid tablets because laying down I would get such bad heartburn to top off not being able to go to the bathroom. I could never tell if the cramping was caused by the constant flow, or the inability to go potty.
So Celtic, I can't be sure, but since I became a Princess....the cramping and bloating is gone.

HUGS to you all and keep on smiling.... the castle or a castle alternative is hopfully just around the corner!

Bloating

Ms.
I can definitely tell you that I had constipation and also loose BMs with an enlarged uterus! I stayed bloated 3 weeks out of the month! I was comfortable the week after my period but watch out, that 2nd week it all began! That is one thing that sent me to the doctor in the first place!

I upped the fiber in my diet slightly when I was constipated, then I went the other way! For the bloating sometime, Gas X or Mylanta Gas helped. Eventually the constipation took care of itself. I never did do laxatives at this time! I had a hard enough time with

When the doc did the lap prior to my TAH, my uterus was the size of a 3.5 month pregnant uterus! Postop has been nothing compared to preop! I've got swelly belly, but everything is working itself out!

Blessings to you!

Bloating

Thanks to all you ladies who answered my post about bloating. I was starting to think that something else was wrong and maybe I did not have to do this surgery, even though the sonograms and CT Scan said that I had an enlarged uterus 12 cm, along with small fibroids and a cyst on my left ovary. Along with my biopsy coming back with hyperplaisa. I guess I was in the denial stage which is normal. I just don't need to be thinking something else is wrong as well. Like stomach or colon cancer. I guess I should take one step at a time.

I am get so nervous about my up coming surgery and recovery and hope to keep strong and focused.

Thank you all for your support,
Debbie

Natural Constipation Remedy

Hi!! This is a remedy given to me by an incontinence therapist. I require additional surgery with pelvic floor support. She said that it was imperative that I not become constipated, which would cause straining resulting in further pelvic damage. Since it is all natural, it can't hurt to try it.

MIX TOGETHER:

1 CUP UNPROCESSED WHEAT OR OAT BRAN
1/2 TO 1 CUP PRUNE OR APRICOT JUICE
1 CUP CHUNKY APPLESAUCE

MIX TOGETHER AND PUT IN THE FRIDGE. IT WILL LAST APPROX. 1 WEEK.

DOSAGE: 2 TO 3 TABLESPOONS ONCE OR TWICE PER DAY.

YOU MAY EITHER EAT THE MIXTURE AND THEN DRINK A GLASS OF WATER, OR ADD THE MIXTURE TO A GLASS OF WATER AND DRINK IT. iF YOU DON'T LIKE THE TASTE OF IT, YOU MAY ADD A LITTLE SUGAR, CINNAMON, OR CLOVE TO IMPROVE THE TASTE.

IF YOU ARE TAKING MORE THAN TWO TABLESPOONS PER DAY, SPLIT IT UP MORNING AND NIGHT.

IF THIS CAUSES GAS, PERFORM BELLY BUTTON MASSAGE TO HELP ALLEVIATE THIS.

*She told me to adjust the doses as needed for me. Hope this helps someone else.

Have to laugh~

I SWEAR, I WAS JUST OUT buying the type of pants I'd swear I would never ever buy (EVER!!!), which I call ...grandma pants.

Ya know, they are big, their very baggy with a droopy crotch, and they have a draw string at the top.

Looking in the mirror an hour ago, I said to my self, "OH GOD, WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME, I'M IN BAGGY GRANDMA PANTS!!!!"

I have irritable bowel syndrome, and it has become impossible within the last month with all the bloating and constipation. I haven't left the house very often, due to the fact I couldn't wear any of my jeans, (including the once super baggy jeans in my collection, that now cuts off my breathing).

So here I sit in my BIG GRANDMA PANTS (drinking prune juice), of all things, but I am really super comfy.
