I had a LAVH (vaginal w/ lap. asst.). That is a good question. I was wondering about the same thing. If it was going to be like child birth. For me personally, it wasn't near as bad as pushing out my 9lb. babies. With my kids I also had an episiotomy...that hurt. I didn't have that with my LAVH. So, for me the hsyt. wasn't near as painful...but I was also heavily medicated. I am 16 days post-op and feeling really good.

Where in Northern CA are you?

I am up near Eureka...Just got all of my surgery info today..It is scheduled for 12:30 pm..wish it were early in the morning..haha..Now i have to go without eating and waite half of the day that day before they operate..I too had big babies..Was wondering what it is goign to feel like afterawrds..I am having a total vaginal hysterectomy I have alot of questions to ask at my preop I guess. She did say she was going to look at my ovaries and was adamant about keeping them. Which I am happy about taht I don't want to deal with the HRT..I am 41...Do they use the scope too when they do the vaginal? Ask her alot of things before hand huh? I was thinking of the epidural with sedation but now am thinking of general The only thing I don't like about general is the hangover you have afterwards..But taht was mainly when I had the in/out laparoscopy This time I'll pretty much be asleep the entire day..wooholl vacation??
Glad you are feeling so good afterwards. I am not so worried after reading all of the posts here and seeing what other's have gone thru

Dear J.B.

Hello, I am a smoker who is planning on quitting on the morning of my surgery 1/29/ on the way to the castle. I have been wanting to quit for a long time now. So this is the best reason to.
I know it will be really hard, but you can do it. As far as the sleeping in bed goes,. I had 2 c-sections, and it was hard to get out of bed, but you can do it, if you have something to grab on to.

I will be thinking of you, best of luck.
