Help!!! estrogen levels?

Hi Ladies,

Please bear with me, as this is the first time I have posted in the Jungle!!

Ok, brief history...TAH/RSO Mar 2001 due to severe endo...LSO and adesiolysis due to endo Jul 2001. Pain is still as bad as ever..but that's another board!

Basically since the LSO in Jul, I have been taking Livial 2.5mg (I think its also called Tibolone)

While everything is being investigated again (ie Endo) I have had my blood levels checked. For 2 months running now my estrogen level has been less than 55. My doctor says it should be between 350 and 400. I take my tablet every day, and I am now really worried about osteoporosis, as I am only 29 and my mum was diagnosed with osteo 6 months ago.

I don't really know what I am asking you now!!??

Any input would be gratefully received!!!

Help!!! estrogen levels?

Vicky what are you taking for HRT and what dosages. The chart that most labs use run from 10-400 for premenopausal women. Its 0-50 for post menopausal women. Somewhere in there you fall. 300-400 would be mid cycle for most women who have not had a hyst and that may be where you feel your best but it may be too much for you. Many women find they feel good at around 80. Closer to 200 is where I feel my best.
Try not to worry to much about the osteoporosis. Take your supplements, make sure you get your exercise and work on the HRT. If your at 55 your still getting some of the hormone.
Everyone of us is different and there are many variables as to how fast out bodies use up the HRT we take. A fast metablolism, stress, consumption of caffeine and the list goes on. All of these effects how your body is able to use the hormone, how much it keeps in the body. It could be that you are going to need higher doses to get the level up.
How are you feeling? Thats the real key. If you feel great, then 50 may be your normal. If the osteo is really bothering you, have the doc do a bone scan so you can keep up with this and head it off if you should see that your bones density is getting thinner.
