I am 24 years old and I am suppose to have everything removed.I haven't even got mine scheduled yet due to insurance.I will not find out until May what my date will be.I am going crazy,I keep thinking of having to just being put to sleep and being in a hospital for 3 or 4 days.I also keep thinking of how good I will feel afterwards and what I will be able to do with no pain. One minute I'm happy because I know I wont be having any pain and the next I am crying cause I have to have it done.I am also already cleaning everything in sight so my family wont have to do as much.I will be praying for you.I wish you the best.

I am right there with all of you. My surgery date is January 28. Luckily. I have the next 4 days of work off so I plan on doing everything to get my house, groceries, etc in order. Then I am going to do this and rest, rest, rest. Everyone take good care of yourselves. Best of luck to all! Cathy

Pre-op Pity Party

Thanks for all of your support! Had my pre-op appt. today. DR was great to sit and answer each question. I was in the exam room for 1 hour! That is alot of questions! I gave him the flyer of this site, he was unaware of it but I think he will look into it. As for the veins, hear me say I do not have any. They had a terrible time finding one, finally located a roller in the side of my hand and after she (internally) grabbed ahold of it so it would stay still it took about 10 minutes to collect 3 vials. AFTER I came to (lol), I was shown the bathroom where I had to pee in one of those same vials, or so it seemed. I questioned her as to 'how on earth I was supposed to aim for that dime size hole'!!! She was a good sport and gave me a cup but I still had to pour it into that small opening. Well they got my blood and urine and we are good to go. DR says they probably have to go for the neck...
Also got a prescription for my nerves since my blood pressure was elevated as was my pulse. Nurse asked me if I was nervous. Pardon?
What would I do without you all? Just to know that someone understands what I (we all) feel.
Count down begins, let's go vacuum!

Pre-Op Pity Party

Hugs to you, A. Cassell!

I spent a huge part of this past weekend in a pseudo-pity party myself. I couldn't manage to feel sorry enough for myself to cry (thus it was a pseudo party) but I sure had a lot of feelings! The women here helped me through much of that.

I found out about my surgery last Thurs. at a checkup which turned into my pre-op. While I've known I might need a hyster "someday" I had no idea that someday was going to become ASAP and so I've been cramming a lot of mental preparation in as fast as I can. I figure I'll get to the cleaning and stuff as my mind and emotions become a bit more settled. Just today I'm starting to feel more like myself. Of course, that is subject to change at any moment!

I, too, have those charming veins that love to roll around and play catch with the IV techs' stickers. My personal approach, and it worked when I had an IV for oral surgery, is to sob--loudly--so they'll immediately bring out the topical anesthetic and whatever else they can bring to bear (valium comes to mind as a useful resource in their bag of tricks). OK, I'm half joking. But only half!

It sounds like you have your sense of humor intact and that seems to be immensely helpful to a lot of women here. I know that I am following the ideas in a post on this board for messages on the tummy for the surgical team to find after we are under--I don't know for sure if I'll stick a post-it to my tummy but the chuckles from contemplating it are so helpful when I start to feel a little nervy.

Chat is great here and, if you are able, I hope to see you there. No matter what, though, I'll be thinking of you and I'll say a prayer for you.

Take care and best wishes for smooth sailing through the surgery and a speedy recovery!

Hi A. Cassell,

I scheduled fpr Feb. 6th also. TAH and possible BSO.

I've known my date since Dec. 1 and I agree that's way too far in adavance.

I haven't been sleeping so my Dr. gave me a prescription for Zanax. It works like a charm.

Just think -- two weeks from today and it will be the day after.

to you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
