yesterday's appointment
When I went in for my appointment yesterday, the doctor got right to the point, giving me my option. Surgery was the option. He is going to remove both ovaries on Feb 11. His exact words were "do I think this is cancer - no - do I know that it isn't cancer - no".
So now until Feb 11, I have to find another gynocologist, because I went around my gyn to get the second opinion at the cancer center. And since I have never really cared for him anyway, now is the time to find someone else. I always felt as if he just brushed me off as a nuisance with all of my complaints about the discharge and the right sided pain. The doctor that did my hysterectomy in Sept 00 left the practice and I was left to see one of the partners.

I'm so glad to hear that this new Dr is working with you on getting this taken care of. I'm sure you aren't looking forward to another procedure but if it takes care of the pain and preferably isn't Cancer, then its well worth it.
I hope you'll be able to find another Gyn that will work out better for you. Do you have a Primary Care physician that might be able to recommend one to you? Or possibly another trusted physician?
Sending you many well wishes and hope that everything turns out to be just fine. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

yesterday's appointment
I'm so glad you've found this doctor, Janet. Maybe he could recommend a new gynecologist for you? Sounds like he's pretty trustworthy.
We'll be going through hormone withdrawal together, I guess. My TAH/BSO is scheduled for Feb. 13. Same as you - the doctor doesn't think my right ovary problems are cancer, but he doesn't know for sure, so both of them are going.
I'll keep you in my prayers. Hopefully, we'll get to compare notes after our surgeries.

yesterday's appointment
Thanks again for your posts.
Now my thoughts are turning to my hormones. Is there anything that I can do nutritionally to prepare myself for this?? Also, do I have to see a gyn for this or can a GP take care of it. Questions, questions.
Lou, we really are in the same boat aren't we. Same basic problem (although I had my uterus and fibroids removed in Sept 00). I'll be keeping you in my prayers also.

Regarding your questions
Hi Janet. Good luck to you in your up and coming visit to the castle. If I were you, I would ask the sugeon who will be doing your surgery about hormones, natural or otherwise. Even though I kept my ovaries, I had hormonal concerns too. I thought about just "treating" myself the natural way through suppliments. But, sometimes these suppliments can do more harm then good. It really depends on your body. I think only the doctor, the one who you trust and is treating you should be answering those kinds of quetions for you. Again, best wishes to you. I'm sure you're scared to go through yet another "visit". I'm sure the end result will be for the best though. You're in our thoughts.
