She upped my surgery day to the 14th today instead of the 15th. Pre-op apt today

Well, She upped my surgery day.. But just by one day. It is now on the 14th instead of the 15 of Aug. I think I have her talked into letting me go home on Wednesday evening. I have my husband (who is taking a weeks vacation) my mother lives next door. I have an RN that lives two houses away who worked on ob for 30 years. Two grown boys and my mother in law lives only 15 minutes away. I have plenty of support at least for the first week. She said if she does not have to open me up and do an open surgery she will probably let me come on home since I have an ob/gyn nurse next door. I am even more freaked out than before though. She said she found a rather large cyst on one ovary and asked if she could take both ovaries... I want to keep one if at all possible. I asked if she could leave one PLEASE leave it if not I know she knows best. I really don't want to let go of that last ovary... I don't know what to do on that front.

I understand you wanting to keep one ovary. Hopefully you will be able to. Your emotions and freakouts are normal and understandable. This is a tough surgery to digest. On leaving early, make sure you are ready to go home. You might change your mind when you are just out of surgery. It does sound like you have plenty of help and support close by.

If you do loose both ovaries, there are options that you should talk with your doctor about to help with surgical menopause.

She said she couldn't make any promises that if the one that's not as bad as the other looks like it's going to cause more problems it's gone too. Good luck MJimernez honey. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I have been whining in these boards for over a week and I am probably driving them crazy..lol
They have made me feel so much better though. I am so glad I found this site. So many supportive people that are there for you when you need to vent/whine/worry.
(((((hugs))))) to each and every one of you!

Re: She upped my surgery day to the 14th today instead of the 15th. Pre-op apt today

Sweetie,

Whine and vent away. That is why we are here and that is why this site exists. We are here to support each other emotionally and mentally through this difficult surgery. And along the way, to learn information that is loaded throughout this site.

This is such an emotionally intense experience - much more than any other surgery I have had. I would have gone insane without this site during my recovery! I have found much healing here.

Just get on as frequently as you need, and allow your logical side to ask questions and your emotional side to express fears, nerves, freakouts, etc. It really does help. Both sides will process this at different times and rates.

Thank you so much marestail. I think I have worked one thing out in my head then it hits my heart... I am not young and I am not old I am right in the middle and my mother has been telling me things that have scared me. She went through this when she was my age.. so did her mother and her mother and lots of other women in our family. It usually hit's in the 40's,. I am 43 with hopefully grandchildren to look forward to. Not sleeping well at all.. I did get a little sleep yesterday and dreamed of going through the surgery and a week later i'm slap dab in the middle of surgical menopause. I am hateful to everyone one minute and crying the next. I guess I dreamed that because that's how my mother was. I know we are all different.. Just hoping I don't end up being like her.. I liked to have gone nuttsy coo coo dealing with her after her surgery and surgical menopause.

Re: She upped my surgery day to the 14th today instead of the 15th. Pre-op apt today

It looks as though you are keeping at least one ovary. That should help, and you won't be in surgical menopause after surgery. But this is a tough surgery to process an both mentally and physically. The emotional roller coaster is very normal as well as crying. Just be patient with yourself - and what you feel is what you feel. It is okay. DH and I had some wicked fights in the week before my surgery. Both of us were really on edge.

I had my surgery when I was 46, so I know what you mean by being not young and not old. I did loose both ovaries, so since surgical menopause was way too tough for me I went on oral estrogen. That gave me my life back.

We are here for you. We will be by your side throughout this process.

Re: She upped my surgery day to the 14th today instead of the 15th. Pre-op apt today

I think we have decided to take both ovaries .. No need in having to go back in after it. Just get it all done and over with. I have been thinking about you Mjimenez and wondering how you were doing. Glad to see you are doing ok. Going in tomorrow at 2:15. THey said the surgery will be somewhere around 3:30. I don't know what I will be doing for that long in pre op.. I am very inpatient and nervous. Hope they have a tv and I am taking my computer with me to pass the time. I am hoping I will be out of the hospital by wed evening... But I don't know if that's gonna happen since my surgery is so late in the day.. Just want to get it over with and get home and on my way back to the old me. Before all the pain and no being able to do what I used to be able to do!
