Re: So, what's the dumbest thing someone has said to you @ surgery?

abt writing to Always!!!! Priceless! Heating pad chafing dishes- PERFECT!
We could have non-"sisters" dress up in those inflatable Sumo wrestler suits & have it be a way they can experience . Of course there would have to be "heating tents" for all the "non-sisters" bc we will have it super cool to help counteract our es
Candy dishes could be filled with Colace stool softeners..... Hhhmmmm, anyone up for a new thread just for "party planning"?

I experienced such an insensitive reaction from family who has had hysterectomy as well! They made me feel like being sad, angry, or even depressed was being week or giving up or even not having faith! I also did not expect it bec they have had a similar experience!

Here you will get all the support, advise, and community you need!

Get well soon, recover well!

I don't know the stories of the hats, but I knit and pray for the baby and somehow feel these are "my babies" that I get to help a little. I'm going to focus on that as much as I can although I still have to cry about the no uterus thing. It's easier while it hurts but in a few days it gets sad again.
MenorrhagiaJen, I am about in tears after reading this. My first baby was a little girl, Emily. She was born at 23 weeks gestation and the doctors let me hold her till she passed because they could tell that her lungs were not mature enough to survive. I received a handmade blanket and a beautiful knit dress and cap for her at the hospital. Handmade by someone wonderful like you. It meant so much to me. We buried her in it because she looked like an angel in the little dress. Thank you so much for what you do.

One of the most ridiculous things my friend said to me while waiting to go into pre-op was ... "be happy you're having a hysterectomy. these hot flashes are so much worse". I thought my daughter was going to deck her.

I thought my husband was really "getting" the enormity of this surgery...then over the weekend he tells me I should call our friend Sandy who "had a c-section and would understand what I should expect post-op" . Grrrrr

Tracy 79-
I am so sorry about your loss. I cannot begin to imagine what that is like. My brother was quite premature in the 60s and not expected to live. He did, but they didn't want my mom to bond with him and so the first time she touched him was the day he came home. I hope that my little hats help someone somehow. I make hats down to 23-24 weeks sizes and they are so tiny. I'm glad you got to love on Emily during her time here.

Re: So, what's the dumbest thing someone has said to you @ surgery?

Think how much money we could get! I know that I have bags of ultra-double power overnight always (which do not last all night); night pads for normal people (which I wear all day unless I leave home and risk public embarrassment without the ultra-expensive purple ones), and normal people pads which are about as useful as a kleenex. My current stock is probably worth at least $20 and there are tampons somewhere that I couldn't use because they hurt, years before the rest of this.

We certainly could pay for one monster hysterectomy shower!
