Re: So, what's the dumbest thing someone has said to you @ surgery?

Well, for me the dumbest thing said was by a nurse.
I was going into surgery and

she said " I know its awkward, but try not to be embarrassed". I just looked at her like what the heck!!

The most common thing said to me was;

" So your having lavh, you'll be back to normal in a couple of days" or 2 days post op when I stood up felt a cramp and held my stomach was;

" Your STILL hurting, I thought this surgery is supposed to be easy, everyone says its easier"

Good grief people!! lol

Prior to my surgery, my MIL said "I'm going to give you the advise that was given to me by my aunt before my surgery. Just remember, they are only taking out the baby's cradle, not the playpen.". I was like WTH did I just hear?!?!?! Lol

The one that got me was "oh, you don't need your uterus, you aren't using it anyway". Maybe I wasn't "using it", but I definitely wanted to keep it. I just couldn't.

"You're not using it anyway." Totally forgot about that one. Heard it several times.

Oh you ladies are the best! Thank you!! Was having a pity party after having step daughter and granddaughter in today after hearing yet one more time how it's just like a c-section . Oh, FYI , she's studying to be a nurse. My opinion is she needs to study harder......!!!!!

@kriskrazy: I am an experienced nurse and you can tell her from me what I tood a coworker the other day..."oh sure it's the same except you get organs removed and you don't walk away with the lovely parting gift... a baby!!!" No more silly comments from the coworker after that, but another coworker did say "why would you WANT to do that?" I iust told her i wasn't doing it for entertainment. She acted as if I couldn't possibly be doing it for any other reason....sheesh!!!!!

I read this (KrisKrazy and vampirequeen) and thought you could suggest you bring your uterus to work wrapped in a swaddling blanket and if they see the difference then.
