Report on Pre-Op testing

It's done--YEAH! I can't believe how nervous I was but I had no idea what to expect. I had a lap. 5 yrs. ago but that was the last and only surgery I've had. First they sent me to the lab where my blood was drawn. I have terrible veins and told the lady first thing that I get a nasty black bruise the size of my entire forearm almost every time I have my blood drawn. She immediately got another gal to do it. She stuck me first try and I didn't watch, so didn't feel a thing. Then they sent me to the bathroom and I had to pee in a cup--Yuck. Then they sent me to radiology where I had to change my blouse to a hospital robe and stand in front of a machine for a chest x-ray. They let me go into a locked booth to change. Then I had to stand against the x-ray machine for the first x-ray and then turn sideways and raise my hands to hang onto some type of bar for the second x-ray. I changed and went back out to the waiting room for about 15 mins. Then the EKG gal came to get me and took me to a room down the hall. She put these little stickers on my legs (ooops, forgot to shave!),

arms and under my chest and then she hooked up these wires to the stickers. That took about 2 mins. and I was done. Then I was sent to see another nurse to fill out info. forms and get directions on what to do & where to go when I come back next week for surgery. Everyone was super nice. The hospital staff all deserve medals because you should've seen some of the patients there! SAD, SAD!

I feel like the bionic woman compared to those poor people. But I am in a lot of pain and I'm certainly looking forward to getting this over with.

Good luck all!

Good for you, glad your pre-op is done and over and it went so well. I was a nervous wreck when I went for mine. My blood pressure was way up and my palms were dripping wet. But then the day of surgery I had this real calm feeling and before I knew it, it was all over and done. Best of luck to you bionic woman. Just remember to be not to bionic when you come home from the castle and get lots of rest. sending you s
